Job Description
At Lyft, our mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation. To do this, we start with our own community by creating an open, inclusive, and diverse organization.

The Chief of Staff role will report directly to the President and will lead critical strategic cross-functional projects and play a key role, alongside their Executive Business Partner, in ensuring the President is prepared and focused on the highest impact initiatives for Lyft. The CoS will be expected to demonstrate problem solving skills, prevent challenges and save time for the executive leadership of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify empathy, inclusivity and support diversity and belonging across Lyft; foster Lyft’s culture and team member experience across the board.
  • Identify and take on ad hoc strategic projects - everything from defining new opportunities to executing cross-functional initiatives, and closing the gaps in business and operations.
  • Lead Business Affairs Leadership team meetings, prepare agendas and follow-through on action items. Drive daily/weekly executive briefings.
  • Drive planning and proactive execution of business priorities.
  • Hiring and onboarding key personnel; responsible for executing onboarding plans.
  • Use cross-functional knowledge and seek to understand issues, trends, and perspectives that may influence the business. Connect the dots for key stakeholders to drive increased alignment.
  • Act as a trusted confidant and sounding board to multiple stakeholders on sensitive topics.
  • Attend meetings and calls with President or on behalf as proxy.
  • Communicate priorities, activities, and results to the larger organization, while ensuring deliverables are met. Have a strong pulse and feedback loop on organizational needs.
  • Craft and prepare President’s internal communications and presentations.

Experience:

  • The ideal candidate has both hands-on experience and a tenured leadership foundation in the following areas: planning & process, budgeting/financial planning, organizational change, communications & strategy execution.
  • A good sounding board for others, with low ego, and ability to anticipate the needs of a busy executive and their direct staff.
  • 7+ years experience in combination of operations, product management, program management, strategy, investment banking, venture capital, operations, supply chain, consulting, or an equivalent field. This role requires past experience in managing resourcing/staffing, and having worked directly with the C-suite on a regular basis.
  • Ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a business unit owner.
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; ability to work well with executives, and able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization.
  • Proven experience designing and leading strategic planning at a hyper-growth, product-centric company.
  • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information.
  • Entrepreneurial, with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity, and efficient with limited resources.
  • Financial prowess and ability to create budgets, models, etc.
  • Ability to comfortably dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions.
  • Strong emotional intelligence – someone who can read people, understand their motivation and background, understand what their needs and wants and the ability to play to different audiences.

Benefits:

  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options
  • Mental health benefits
  • 401(k) plan to help save for your future
  • Family building benefits
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
