The Chief Administrative Officer & Sr. Vice President of Care Delivery Operations (CAO/SVP) partners with Hawaii Permanente Medical Group’s (HPMG) President & Medical Director to lead the State’s largest multi-specialty medical group that provides world-class care to Kaiser Permanente (KP) members in the Hawaii Market. The CAO/SVP works closely with HPMG executives and physician leaders to resolve barriers in delivering high quality, service-oriented, compassionate, affordable health care. Collaborates with Kaiser Foundation Health Plan executives and staff on day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives in ambulatory and inpatient settings.
JOB DUTIES
- Provides leadership in building a team and an organization which will assume responsibility and accountability for achieving both the mission and financial/operational objectives of HPMG and the Hawaii Market.
- Ensures effective alignment between the needs of HPMG, Hawaii Market and Southern California Medical Group (SCPMG) operations to capitalize on processes, innovations, tools, and solutions; works closely with SCPMG CAOs and AMGAs (Assistant Medical Group Administrators).
- Effectively leads overall HPMG Administrative Specialists with the intentional purpose of developing and supporting high-performing staff who demonstrate the core values of compassion, innovation, and excellence in a hybrid work environment that supports evolving needs and addresses challenges of care delivery in Hawaii.
- Supports the successful operational implementation of strategic and tactical priorities.
- Develops and establishes implementation plans for business strategy to achieve objectives.
- Through direct engagement, actively represents HPMG in the local community.
- Leads with empathy and cultural awareness; promotes and fosters a positive, diverse, and inclusive work environment.
- Works with HPMG executives, physician leaders, Market executives and directors to develop joint strategic direction and effective tactics for the care delivery system, including budget, oversight of operations and performance, clinical quality, access, service and affordability. Provides leadership in bringing together diverse constituencies for the purposes of conceptualizing, articulating, and implementing a shared vision for the Hawaii Market.
- Oversees and leads HPMG care administration departments, including Analytics, Quality & Care Integration, Clinical Documentation & Reporting, Medical Education & Primary Care Operations, and Care Delivery Programs & Support Services.
- Leads the development and execution of key strategies which differentiates KP from its competitors in the areas of service and clinical experience.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong skills in negotiation, mediation, change management, and constructive, proactive problemsolving.
- Clinical license is preferred.
- Ability to effectively network and collaborate with disparate individuals and groups both within and outside of KP.
- Experience with integrating healthcare systems and services to efficiently maximize service and to support the organization's mission and goals.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in an operational leadership role in an integrated delivery system setting.
- In-depth understanding of financing health care.
- Master’s degree is required.
- Exhibits integrity, discretion, candor, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.
- Ability to effectively influence and manage high priority initiatives involving multiple constituents.
- Ability to communicate effectively and with a high degree of credibility with all levels of staff, medical group shareholders, and consumers.
- Experience working effectively with physicians in the provision of care, management of operations and business entities.
- Established reputation as a service-oriented patient-focused leader, capable of creating a service-oriented philosophy of care throughout the clinics.
- Extensive experience working with physicians and providers and healthcare staff.
Compensation commensurate with qualifications.
