CHIEF NURSING OFFICER
Compensation: $175,000 - $227,500
Job Summary: As part of the clinic administrative team, assists with the organization, direction, management and evaluation of Patient Care Services to attain the clinic's objectives established by the governing authority.
Demonstrates Competency in the Following Areas:
Responsible for the leadership and professional development of the nursing staff.
Develops, implements, reviews and revises policies, procedures and standards to assess, evaluate and meet the needs of the patient.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
Provides interpretations of clinic policies to the nursing staff, patients and community.
Implements standards of nursing practice annually reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice and to ensure safe, effective and efficient nursing care.
Addresses and supports cultural practices as long as such practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical therapy.
Recommends modifications, additions or deletions of human resources policies to insure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide patient care coverage.
Participates in problem solving, policy forming conferences for patient care services. Maintains close coordination with the Chief Executive Officer and all departments to insure continuity and collaboration of services.
Participates with management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the clinic's decision making process.
Serves as a member of professional staff committees in matters pertaining to patient care.
In coordination with the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Financial Officer utilizes the patient service managers (PSM) to plan the budget requirements for staff, performance of work, supplies and equipment.
Assists in implementing an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
Each clinic's performance improvement program interfaces with and supports the system-wide performance improvement program.
Reports the results of each clinic?s performance improvement activities to the respective medical staff committees and to the clinic-wide performance improvement committee.
Assures that managers review monthly performance improvement compliance with established indicators and sees that corrective actions are taken when negative outcomes are identified.
Collaborates with clinic leaders in developing, implementing, reviewing, revising and monitoring clinic-wide performance improvement activities.
Carries out research to study the effectiveness of the clinic's nursing practices in relation to its objectives and cost. Submits reports to Chief Executive Officer.
In coordination with the Chief Executive Officer and Compliance Officer ensures compliance with local, state, federal rules and regulations and accrediting organization standards.
Prepares reports/surveys/statistics to be reported to the Governing Body, government agencies.
Represents the clinic at various meetings, community organizations as directed by the Chief Executive Officer.
Keeps abreast of healthcare changes/advances that effect the clinic through conferences, professional societies and publications, seminars etc.
