Business Intelligence Engineer, Client Analytics

Summary:

Crane Worldwide Logistics’ Client Analytics team is looking to hire a Business Intelligence Engineer as part of growing the capability of providing reporting/analytics solutions to its clients. This role will work under the Client Analytics Manager and be embedded within the larger CWW Technology Group.

The BI Engineer will be involved in the scoping, development, and implementation of technical products for consumption by CWW’s client base. Examples of output include but are not limited to:

• PowerBI Dashboards
• Static tabular reporting
• Reporting data models in Snowflake using dbt/GitHub
• Recommendations to operational departments as part of improving data quality and data entry procedures
• Integrations with client systems

A broad skillset in the technical project delivery cycle will yield high success in this role. The scope of responsibilities will not be limited to just development activities.

An individual in this role should have been exposed to scoping and requirements gathering, iterative development approaches, data validation, and post-implementation feedback loops. Above all, comfortability with deep data exploration and independently progressing projects is paramount.

Additionally, it would be expected that the BI Engineer isn’t apprehensive to “crossing lanes” and facilitating conversations across many different departments depending on the need of projects. Applicants should be comfortable in settings that require direct interaction with clients, CWW stakeholders, and internal technical teams that comprise the CWW Technology Group.

Role Requirements:

• 2-4 years of practical, in-the-field, use of SQL
• Familiarity with the project implementation lifecycle
• Demonstrable experience with directly interacting with stakeholders and consumers of completed projects
• Independently able to take a project from inception to deployment with minimal oversight and management
• Demonstrable experience with quantifying and analyzing how projects tie back to organizational goals
• Demonstrable experience with exploring unmodeled data and comfortability with tracing data lineage
• 2-4 years of practical, in-the-field, PowerBI experience

Role Nice-to-Haves:

• Familiarity with agile development concepts, specifically the Kanban framework
• Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehousing products
• Prior work history in commercial consulting, federal consulting, or business intelligence/analytics teams in the logistics industry
• Experience with dbt to build SQL reporting models (including dbt tests/macros/exposures/etc.)
• Experience using GitHub
• High familiarity with the concepts of ETL v. ELT
