Reporting to: VP, Business Intelligence & Analytics

Location: Remote, USA

Summary

Oversees and actively fosters the development of the business intelligence & analytics function, including shared oversight of the Power BI platform and direct oversight of subordinate department personnel. Acts as a catalyst for growing the business intelligence and analytics capabilities of the company. Develops, enhances and maintains data queries, data models, reports, dashboards and analytics, collaborating with business partners and customers as required. Engages with business stakeholders across the organization to identify and capitalize on key opportunities for the development and enhancement of analytics and reporting. Identifies personnel needs as the function evolves and recruits, coaches, and develops department colleagues accordingly. Advocates and fosters a data-driven approach to decision-making, furthering the evolution of the company’s business intelligence culture.


Responsibilities


Reporting & Analytics (25%)

  • Work with the I.T. and Data Architecture teams and contracted resources as required to deliver best-in-class business intelligence to business stakeholders.
  • Perform parallel work such as data integration, ETL and data model development and enhancement to support this effort.
  • Conceive and author DAX measures to allow for meaningful calculations and insight.
  • Guide self and oversee direct reports to:
  • Develop, enhance and maintain reports, dashboards and analytics in the Power BI platform.


Leadership & Supervision (25%)

  • Lead, coach and develop direct reports, actively contributing to the growth and enhancement of their technical and business skills and to their ongoing professional development.
  • Identify department personnel needs as the needs of the company evolve and work with department leadership to conceive of the resources required, draft job descriptions and recruit talent (working in concert with People Operations).


Business Engagement (20%)

  • Engage with business stakeholders across a wide range of functions to identify and capitalize on key opportunities for analytics and reporting enhancements.
  • Foster a data-driven culture through the adoption and proliferation of data management best practices and advocate BI throughout the organization.
  • Identify data sources and help the business to prepare data for integration.
  • Guide self and oversee direct reports to:
  • Provide BI and analytics usage training and support to constituents.
  • Assist stakeholders to determine business needs and requirements for BI, including the development of performance metrics and KPIs.


Business Analysis (10%)

  • Similarly communicate any observed defects in the data and work with the business to remedy.
  • Assist business leaders as required in interpreting their data.
  • Communicate to leadership any observed trends in the data that might be relevant to the business and/or may identify business opportunities.


Professional Development (10%)

  • Advance and further develop knowledge of Power BI, DAX, Power Query and other BI and analytics tools through online resources and/or books, training courses, user groups or professional organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest Power BI and Microsoft Power Platform functionality and developments.


Special Assignments & Projects (10%)

  • Contribute business intelligence and analytics expertise to special projects/assignments as required by the company’s expansion or ongoing operation.



Qualifications

  • Experience with statistical programming languages such as R or Python (preferred)
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with business unit leadership (required)
  • The ability to develop data extract, transform and load (ETL) processes via Power Query, with a working knowledge of the M query language (required)
  • Experience working with and/or developing in other components of the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate and Power Apps (preferred)
  • Experience with database programming languages such as SQL (preferred)
  • Eager to effectively articulate to a broad audience ideas and solutions of a complex/technical nature (required)
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, including proficiency in the DAX formula language (required)
  • Proven experience with using data visualization techniques to create meaningful reports and dashboards (required)
  • Able to translate business requirements into elegant and user-friendly reports and dashboards (required)
  • Experience creating dimensional data models such as star and snowflake schemas (required)
  • Proven ability to identify, coach and develop talent in the business intelligence & analytics space (required)



Degree of Supervision Received


  • General Supervision: Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments. Exercises broad discretion within functional area.



Degree of Decision-Making Responsibility


  • Position develops and implements policies and procedures: Has the responsibility to make decisions outside of established guidelines that may significantly affect customers, colleagues and/or the company.



Experience Required


  • Significant specialized experience (6-10 years’ experience in same or related field)



Education Required


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience


Compensation - $125,000 - $164,000 Base Salary

We believe in building a compensation structure that reflects the comparable market pay rate for positions at companies similar in size, revenue generation and geographic location; in addition to individual factors including seniority, performance-based merit, education/training and experience related to scope of responsibilities.


Equity - This position is eligible for the company's equity plan.

Flexible Paid Time Off – This position is eligible for flexible paid time off. At Inspirato, we believe in taking personal responsibility for managing and balancing our individual time off with our workload and results. Instead of accruing or being granted a specific number of days per year, employees have the flexibility to manage their time out of the office.

*Individuals based in California are eligible for a paid time off policy in which PTO is accrued each pay period.


FAM Trip – This Position is eligible for the Employee Familiarization Travel Program following three (3) consecutive months of employment. This program provides you up to one seven (7) day reservation in an eligible Inspirato property per your employment calendar year – subject to seasonal property demands and the company Employee Familiarization Travel Program Terms and Conditions.
