Job Description

Business Development Executive - Education Technology Solutions Sales

August 2023

Location: Remote (US - Eastern Time Zone Preferred)


Primary Purpose

LearningMate’s Higher Education and K12 Sales teams seek a dedicated team player who will be our initial point of contact for growth outreach via prospecting, lead cultivation, validation, and top-of-the-funnel management.

The ideal candidate is passionate about education technology and actively seeks to grow their career with a leading Ed-tech solutions provider. You will be instrumental in identifying accounts for strategic growth and partnership. Your creativity and confidence will be key in presenting compelling and winning value propositions to prospective clients.


Essential Functions

  • Build and maintain a network of contacts and/or book of business from which to identify new sales leads.
  • Work with sales leadership to develop marketing and messaging to drive opportunities for new business.
  • Understand LearningMate services and market offerings, and articulate the features and benefits based on customer needs.
  • Work with the senior sales team on pipeline management.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting on accounts, opportunities, issues, and forecasts using SalesForce and /or HubSpot (training will be provided).
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with clients.
  • Scheduling meetings and coordination with senior executives.
  • Stay abreast of trends in the education industry.
  • Work cross-functionally with senior management, marketing, pre-sales, delivery, and research teams for client success.
  • Manage campaign delivery coordination, outreach, and communications, and track and monitor effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with global teams to achieve sales quota.



Qualifications

  • Ambition to build a career as a Business Development Representative, Sales Account Executive, or similar role.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff.
  • Highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • An understanding of sales techniques, including cold calling and prospecting.
  • Internship or work experience in Higher Education or K-12 technology services sales.
  • Superior follow-through and tenacious follow-up skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Curious, motivated, and possess a desire to be coached and mentored into a senior sales role.
  • Understanding of sales performance metrics.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and travel (up to 15%) occasionally may be required for conferences and client meetings, which may include overnight travel.
  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.
  • Exposure to CRM software is a plus (e.g., Salesforce and HubSpot).


Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • The work environment is primarily indoors at home, the client’s office, or in other professional settings with minimal to moderate noise.
  • When traveling, there may be exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, as well as potentially hazardous driving and traffic conditions.
  • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands to operate computers and other office equipment.
  • Occasionally lifts or exerts force up to 25 lbs.
  • LearningMate has offices in India and USA. Coordination with the teams, primarily in India, requires early morning or late evening calls/meetings.
