Biotech Investments Associate/Analyst (Hedge Fund)

Highly reputable midsized hedge fund in NYC seeks Biotech Research Associate to join an elite investment management team.

Primary Responsibilities:

 Perform technical analysis for both prospective and existing public and private biotech investments

 Review, synthesize, and present disease pathophysiology, drug mechanism of action, PK/PD, preclinical and clinical data, CMC/regulatory considerations, and prevalence/incidence data for internally-generated reports and presentations

 Know, or be willing to learn, how to evaluate the above data points to generate actionable investment theses

 Monitor a variety of data sources to detect changes in fundamental and sentiment changes for portfolio positions, and identify potential risks to current investments

 Maintain a critical approach to data interpretation, with a focus on independent verification of assumptions

Requirements:

 Passion for biotech investing on both the public and private side

 At minimum MS degree, preferably M.D. or Ph.D. in a life sciences field

 A desire to learn how to synthesize highly complex information, distill it to key questions, generate an investment theses, and test theses objectively

 Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

 Ability to take detailed notes in real-time during presentations, company meetings and calls

 2+ yrs of experience in the life sciences/biotech/healthcare investment management/investment analysis, with experience in either hedge fund, venture capital, P/E or within a biotech or pharma.
