Job description

Institutional FX Sales role is responsible for identifying sales opportunities that address specific needs for HSBC clients and, managing these from identification to point of sale. The role will be based in NY and will report to the Head of FX Institutional Sales, Americas. The person in this role is responsible for FX coverage of global institutional clients including asset managers, hedge funds and banks clients for FX Cash and derivatives products in both developed markets and emerging markets.


The candidate should have a strong quantitative background, experience in FX product, previous sales experience and international language skills.


Principal Accountabilities:

  • Customers / Stakeholders
    • External & Internal Clients: Network, develop and nurture client relationships
    • Internal Collaboration: Develop close and effective working relationships within respective Americas FX business, as well as broader Global FX Businesses and MSS
    • External bodies: Build and maintains relationships with external partners, industry bodies and others to keep up to date with developments
    • Supports the London FX Institutional Sales team in communication with Banking Relationship Managers to provide relevant market and product information to build the relationship
    • Deliver fair outcomes for HSBC’s customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets
  • Internal Collaboration: Develop close and effective working relationships within respective Americas FX business, as well as broader Global FX Businesses and MSS
  • Proactive participation with other salespersons and traders who service accounts
  • Cross-sell products within the relevant Asset Class, or within MSS more broadly
  • Key driver in delivering trade ideas and relevant and targeted HSBC content to clients
  • Management of transaction flow from order through to execution in conjunction with the relevant trading team in addition to business as usual transaction execution
  • External & Internal Clients: Network, develop and nurture client relationships
  • Lead and encourage constructive cross-country and cross-business teamwork by demonstrating collaboration and matrix management in action and taking prompt action to address any activities and behaviours that are not consistent with HSBC's diversity policy and/or the best interests of the business and its customers
  • Develop knowledge of client needs and requirements; coordinate effort to service client organizations
  • Identification of new leads in Institutional FX, and responsibility of developing and tracking a business plan to expand existing client relationships
  • Proactive participation in the marketing of FX services
  • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop leaders and others to ensure that they maximise their performance, meet the required standards, and continuously develop their capabilities and experience

For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $125,000.00 and $150,000.00.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Requirements

  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Extensive background in FX derivative product knowledge encompassing vanilla, first generation, and more complex exotic FX options
  • Deep understanding of markets, foreign exchange instruments and commodities
  • Strong Institutional client relationships
  • Strong breadth covering global emerging markets with institutional clients including asset managers, central banks, and hedge funds
  • Experience in an Institutional Sales role, preferably in FX
  • Strong understanding of Markets and Securities Services business and ability to work in a matrix organisation
  • University Degree or advanced qualifications and equivalent experience
