Application Support Engineer – Hedge Fund - $100,000-$150,000 Salary + Bonuses

Whilst it would be perfect if you come from a buy-side application support environment, that’s not essential. Experience of supporting applications in a financial environment will be key. You’ll be given all of the tools and all of the help to pick up new skills and progress your career both in terms of technologies and business knowledge.

Initially, you’ll be working on first and second level support issues and you’ll also provide detailed analysis and basic troubleshooting for issues that will need to be escalated to level three. Once you’ve learnt the systems and applications used here in-depth, you’ll be exposed to more level three issues with the potential of becoming a fully fledge SRE if you desire. There will be some shift work required and this is shared evenly between the team. This may include overnight on call, it’s worth being upfront on that.

You’ll get exposure to various teams here as whilst it’s a “large” hedge fund in terms of assets under management, the overall size is still quite small in business terms and the NYC office will make you feel like this is a small company – you’ll see the impact you’re making. You’ll work closely with the SRE teams and Front Office teams, so you’ll be on the trading floor where all the action happens.

Applications that you’ll support will be a mix between in-house developed platforms that likely will require Python and SQL to automate tasks or to gather data via APIs, and Front Arena. You don’t need Front Arena experience, but it would be a huge help if you do.

Key requirements from a technical experience point of view will be to have strong Python and SQL skills and some Linux systems admin experience. Otherwise, it’ll just be that you’re coming from some kind of application support in finance.
