The Associate Systems Administrator is responsible for performing a variety of technical tasks for our clients. Responsible for performing "Tier 1" technical support functions for Linux and Windows operating systems for our clients. Some of the key duties of the Associate Systems Administrator include provisioning various virtualized instances of Linux & Windows on both on-premise and cloud environments, performing proactive maintenance which includes patching, scripting, and monitoring, and assisting with the implementation of various HIE platforms, including secure connectivity, installation, and setup.
Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Report directly to the Systems Support Team Manager.
- Configure security infrastructures including VPN, SSL/TLS, LDAP, AES encryption, and system auditing.
- Consult with client on the implementation of “best practices” pertaining to server infrastructure.
- Perform system and application security audits of internal and client environments and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and maintain systems documentation in a manner consistent with Ready and industry guidelines.
- Assist with hardware and resource sizing exercises based on actual or predicted utilization.
- Provide support to clients experiencing technical issues with their deployed server infrastructure.
- Work closely with our strategic partners to address any escalated “Tier 3” support cases.
- Install, deploy, and maintain our database, integration, and application software.
- Support and maintain client infrastructures.
- Install, deploy, and maintain Linux and Windows virtual environments.
- Log time each week in our time-tracking system.
- Take on other responsibilities and assignments as from time to time requested by management.
- Configure VMware, GCP, AWS, and Azure-based environments to support development, testing, user acceptance, and production.
- Monitor deployed systems via both proactive, on-server monitoring and using application performance monitoring tools.
- Configure business continuity strategies, including backup/restore, high availability, and disaster recovery processes.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc) & Windows based operating systems in a sysadmin role.
- Experience selecting, designing, and implementing systems for monitoring, configuration management, and service desk management.
- Experience utilizing and configuring Zabbix, OpsRamp, Nagios, Splunk, etc. a plus.
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python, Powershell) desired.
- Experience working with project and support based service desk systems.
- Experience utilizing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to InterSystems’ Cache, Iris, and Ensemble.
- Experience with using Jira Service Desk a plus.
- Demonstrated skills utilizing RMM (Remote Management/Monitoring) platforms or similar managed service’s system.
- Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, AWS, GCP, and Azure a plus.
- Demonstrated skills or knowledge in the configuration & troubleshooting of Virtual Hypervisor Platforms such as VMware or equivalent.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a federal background check and able to maintain a security clearance.
- Oral and written fluency in English.
- Highly organized and detailed, with a "perfectionist" approach to work.
- 2+ year associates degree or greater, and 3+ years of relevant work experience; prior government experience preferred.
- A customer-focused philosophy, with a sincere interest to see our clients succeed.
- Flexible and able to adapt to frequently changing standards and priorities.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication, with a friendly disposition in all communications with peers, managers, clients, and partners.
Physical & Mental Qualifications:
- Most positions require occasional travel.
- Most positions allow for working from home, however, positions based in the New York metro area require commuting requirements into the office.
- All positions require the ability to focus on numerous tasks and project requirements throughout an eight (8) hour workday.
- All positions require the ability to work, communicate, and collaborate with team members, peers, clients, vendors, and other entities that the Company maintains business relationships with.
- All positions require the ability to talk on the phone.
- All positions require minimum and infrequent lifting requirements (laptop).
- No positions require walking requirements apart from the travel and commute as stated in this section.
- All positions require the ability to work on a computer for at least eight (8) hours per day. This includes fine and gross manipulation (typing and utilizing the mouse), looking at a computer screen for extended periods of time, visual acuity (reading off of a computer screen). This also includes the ability to sit and stand for a combined period of at least eight (8) hours per day.
