Associate General Manager Jobs

The Associate General Manager is responsible for all aspects of The Blackwell Inn and Pfahl Conference Center rooms and food and beverage operations, continually focusing on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation and cost control, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel’s mission. AGM provides support to the General Manager by leading the team in development and implementation of property-wide strategies. This position is a member of the hotel’s Leadership Team and ensures brand service strategies and initiatives are met with the objective of meeting or exceeding guest and employee satisfaction. Other role responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Ensures service and product standards are maintained as outlined by the quality assurance criteria; ensures full compliance to hotel operating controls, SOPs, policies and procedures as set by the hotel and OSU; ensure all department inventories are accurate and complete, supplies are maintained; creates a collaborative environment between all departments to ensure operational efficiency; leads by example utilizing a hands-on approach to management, assists operations and department managers; motivates and empowers staff to solve guest issues, focus on guest satisfaction strategies; provide excellent customer service by being readily available/approachable for all guests (internal and external); assist with human resources tasks including assisting with recruiting and ensuring proper staffing levels in all areas, onboarding and training of staff, working with CWA union, review employee performance, coaching and conducts personnel actions as needed; assists GM with key property items including capital projects, maintenance progress and FFE conditions and other duties as needed. Areas of oversight include: guest services, housekeeping, laundry, reservations & revenue management, security, valet, sundry/gift shop, fitness center, business center, banquet operations, restaurant operations, Simon’s lounge, Rohr Café and 3rd party vendors (contract services, CWA labor union, OSU departments, etc.).

This is a full-time hands-on position for an operation open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year and does require evenings, weekends and holidays. Strong management skills, ability to appropriately assign or delegate work and authority to others in the accomplishment of goals. And provide coaching, advice and assistance as required.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree may be desirable. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong history of full service hospitality experience, with an emphasis on food and beverage or a minimum of 3-5 years of hotel or conference management experience, preferably in operations; experience in forecasting and scheduling, daily reviews and analysis of operating results; knowledge of hotel operations, including security, reservations, revenue management, housekeeping, banquets and outlets, budget forecasting, and long-range planning; systems/programs knowledge regarding safety, property management, and quality assurance; experience in conflict resolution; excellent customer service skills; strong communication skills; proficient with Microsoft Office products.
