Description

Associate General Counsel

Location: Must be located in Kentucky (or able to do so within 6 months of hire).

Responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations for initiatives and projects developed in response to clients’ overall objectives and needs. Primary client is the Kentucky Plan President. Works as a strategic partner and decision maker with more senior leaders and manages work independently.

How You Will Make an Impact:

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate legal projects.
  • Uses professional legal concepts and principles to contribute to development of company's concepts and principles.
  • Routinely works on complex problems in which analysis of situations and/or facts require an in-depth evaluation of various factors.
  • May possess deep technical knowledge or broader scope of knowledge.
  • Contributes to overall results of an SBU or CEE unit and/or department.
  • Applies knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the legal matter at hand.
  • Serves as a resource for other attorneys and paralegals as well as business clients instructing and advising on technical and tactical issues. Assesses and mitigates risk.
  • Reports to management any identified business exposure and associated risks as well as mitigation techniques being utilized.
  • Provides concise, timely briefings to senior level business and legal management.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a JD, current license to practice law, and a minimum of 9 years of specific industry and/or technical legal experience post licensure; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.
  • Must be located and licensed in Kentucky (or able to do both within 6 months of hire).

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experience:

  • Ability to provide concise, user friendly analysis on complicated matters.
  • Experience managing outside counsel strongly preferred.
