Job Description

Uncle Dave’s Housing is seeking an Assistant to our Executive Director. We are looking for someone who is a multi-tasker, a self-starter, and who isn’t afraid to ask questions.

Resourceful. The Executive Director will give you projects, some remedial like calling utility companies, many social media tasks, editing websites, re-writing and editing policies and procedures. There will be research projects and projects to organize documents and photos.

This position will involve all aspects of non-profit operations. We will train someone with the right experience and passion. The position involves editing, writing, creating, and designing projects in Google Docs, Canva, Word, WordPress, and Elementor.

*We are willing to train on new platforms if you have some experience in other platforms involving social media posts, editing websites, and preparing documents.


Responsibilities

●Support the Executive Director with projects including obtaining utility discounts, posting information on the internet, preparing forms, filling out applications for the non-profit

●Assist in reviewing and contacting household bill companies i.e. LADWP.

●Assist in organizing our document library and company photos.

●Create and design documents and social media posts in Canva and Google Docs.

●Edit minor changes to our website

●Make marketing calls informing agencies about our mission.

●Attend coalition, agency webinars along with training webinars.

●Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on office procedures and systems.

●Communicate with House Managers and Supervisors and obtain documents or needed information.

Qualifications

●Prefer College degree or someone currently enrolled in college.

●Proficiency in Microsoft 365 for Business (Word, Excel, Teams, Chats and Outlook)

●Willing to learn and attend webinars or in-person training in Los Angeles.

●Ability to work independently and comfortable asking for help.

●Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

●Ability to be detail-oriented and possesses excellent (English skills) communication,

●Comfortable making phone calls and sending email communication.

●Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

●Strong written and verbal communication skills.

●Proficient with social media: Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, including Facebook Groups and Meta Suite.

●Comfortable with remote work and familiar with collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and Google Workspace.

●Have a passion for non-profits and social causes.

●Ensure a welcoming environment that supports and respects all individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

●If you can prepare email newsletters, this is a major plus (Mailerlite or Mailchimp)

●Ability to videotape and record on Zoom or Microsoft Team.

●Knowledge of Video editing and podcasting
