Job Description
Job Overview:
Cambium Learning Group is seeking an attorney with experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of technology and commercial contracts. Reporting to an Associate General Counsel, this is an excellent in-house opportunity for a junior attorney.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Creating and maintaining contract templates, guidelines, playbooks and processes
  • Negotiating and drafting complex technology and other commercial agreements, (eg, software licenses, consulting services, publishing) as well as customer agreements with state and local government agencies
  • Performing other legal work as requested by members of the legal team or the business, which may relate to data privacy and security, intellectual property, brand enforcement, human resources, marketing and advertising, and corporate matters, among others
  • Analyzing Requests for Proposal (“RFPs”) from government agencies and providing legal guidance to internal stakeholders responding to them
  • The Assistant Legal Counsel will provide services to the entire company. Principal responsibility will be contract drafting, negotiation and administration.
Job Requirements:
  • Exceptional candidate will also have experience handling data privacy considerations in drafting and negotiating technology contracts (eg, data processing addenda)
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively
  • Prior Experience: 1-4 years of solid contracts experience through a law firm and/or in-house legal department
  • General knowledge of corporate and commercial law
  • Education: Law degree from an ABA accredited U.S. law school, admission to the bar of at least one state (or bar admission is in process) is required
