Position Description
Job Overview
The Latinx Center affirms the dignity and diversity of Latinx students by providing a multi-engaging, cultural validating and educational advocacy space for students and the community at large. It strives to educate the campus about Latinx issue multi-dimensional identities, and ethnic diversity represented within the community (e.g., Central & South America, Caribbean to Mexico). There is a focus on retaining students while promoting their successes within the university and beyond as well as fostering a sense of belonging and coach/advise students on ways to engage with university student life educational opportunities. California State University San Marcos promotes an inclusive and equitable campus community through advocacy, education and support services.
Under the leadership of the Lead Administrator, the Assistant Director will provide planning, development, implementation and administration of student services/programs, which support and enhance the educational experience for students, particularly Latinx students. The Assistant Director will support the holistic success of students through the Student Life Cycle by providing high-impact, academic and co-curricular programs and services that contribute to the achievement of student excellence. The Assistant Director will foster a sense of belonging and connect students to opportunities for engagement in university life and in the broader community.
In partnership with the Lead Administrator, the Assistant Director works to address barriers which impact academic success and enhance their access, retention, and graduation by providing administrative and student support, co-curricular program development and coordination, and curriculum support. The Assistant Director will be involved in direct service to students and will develop and implement intervention and support strategies for students experiencing life circumstances. The Assistant Director will develop campus and community partnerships that make it possible for activities to be sustained, including high-level collaborations with organizations on and off campus. Collaborates and cooperates to create leadership and intercultural competence opportunities to support student learning and development.
Position Summary
Assistant Director, Latinx Center (Student Services Professional III)
This is a full time, exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,025 - $6,000 per month
CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,025 - $7,159 per month
