Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Strategies, the Assistant Director of Student Success oversees academic advising initiatives as well as student success and retention in UF Online. In collaboration with academic advisors and programs, this person will develop, implement, and evaluate academic success and persistence efforts for students in UF Online, using data to inform efforts and will report on metrics that enable UF Online to ensure students are supported in academic persistence. This position serves as part of the UF Online leadership team, building connections with academic units in the planning and development of UF Online offerings, supporting the growth of pathways and opportunities for students.
In collaboration with academic advisors, internal teams, and using evidence-based best practices,
establish metrics and propose strategies for student success and academic persistence; monitor and report on metrics, incorporating data from student feedback, advisor feedback, UF systems, and campus partners (e.g., tutoring platforms, Canvas, etc). Conduct internal research on student success and persistence to inform efforts at continuous improvement. Develop outreach initiatives for student retention, success, and persistence.
Guide and facilitate the UF Online Advising Circle, maintaining frequent contact with academic advisors for UF Online and PaCE students to ensure these individuals are supported and informed with resources and connections to the central team. Manage advisor professional development budgets and activities,including coaching development.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure students have access to resources that support their success and persistence. Engage in planning and strategy for student co-curricular activities, professional development, peer mentoring, and other evidence-based methods for improving student success and persistence.
Regularly engage with campus partner offices focused on academic advising and student success and retention, including tutoring resources, career services, and more. Participate in and support
Undergraduate Advising Council efforts, including annual conference.
Participate in cross-functional initiatives, committees, and activities with UF Online and related teams.

Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.
Academic advising experience (3+ years), preferably for an online student population. Knowledge of student development concepts and frameworks. Management and/or team leadership experience. Experience speaking, presenting, and working with the general public. Strong collaborative, organizational, and communication skills.
