Job Description
This position can be based on Houston, TX, Woodland Hills, CA, or fully remote.
Summary of the role:
This role will serve as the Head of Life and IM model quality assurance on the Actuarial Modernization team. The models developed by Actuarial Modernization team on AXIS platform will be used to produce statutory, GAAP and economic projections which will directly support valuation, capital management, asset liability management, and regulatory projections such as cash flow testing. This individual will lead a team across the US and abroad. This individual will have frequent and regular interact with valuation model owners, business line CFA team, actuarial control team, model production team and IT team.
About the role:
  • Ensure engagement, maintain transparency, and manage expectations with diverse stakeholders
  • Ensure all steps of testing process are fully documented.
  • Work with IT team to ensure all model and data changes are fully promoted to production team. Conduct integration testing and release model and data to production environment.
  • Develop and manage multiple remote actuarial talents
  • Lead the testing team to develop and execute test plans and test tools to validate and certify AXIS life and IM models for STAT, GAAP LDTI, CFT and ALM basis. This includes both BAU model changes and new model conversions.
  • Effectively communicate quarterly model changes and seeking approvals through the Change Control Board. Be able to articulate drivers of model change impact.
What we are looking for:
  • Expertise in actuarial modeling software; Moody’s AXIS is strongly preferred
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to lead and motivate a team to deliver multiple projects successfully under given timelines
  • Programming expertise in Visual Basic, SQL or C++ is preferred
  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries
  • At least 10 years of experience with life and institutional market insurance products, actuarial modeling and valuation
  • Previous management experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience working with databases such as SQL
  • Excellent problem-solving skills

For positions based in Woodland Hills, California, the base salary range is $125,000 - $180,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan. In addition, we’re proud to offer a range of competitive benefits.
