Director Of Environment Of Care & Life Safety

Summary
We are searching for a Director of Environment of Care & Life Safety — someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you’ll direct functions for those services, as well as lead and oversee efficient and cost-effective delivery of regulatory and EC/LS services, which includes overseeing Joint Commission regulatory compliance and safeguarding the organization’s assets, initiatives, and business plans. Finally, you will provide outstanding customer service, develop relationships with executives, directors, and other leadership, and identify and resolve problems quickly. Specific knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care Standards and Life Safety Code (LSC) requirements is essential for this role.

Minimum Qualifications
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children’s, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption

• Master’s degree in business administration, healthcare, or a related field preferred
• 4 years’ experience in advancing a best-in-class, customer-centered service and demonstrating the capacity to incorporate experiences into user-friendly outcomes with executives and clinicians preferred
• CHFM or CHSP certification preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, fire protection engineering, fire science technology, industrial hygiene or business administration required
• Knowledge of and experience in utilizing NFPA 99 and 101; and other NFPA codes
• 7 years’ experience with progressively complex leadership experiences overseeing sophisticated regulatory compliance processes within a diverse set of environments (acute healthcare, industry, for-profit, non-profit)
• Knowledge of and participation in at least two previous Joint Commission surveys

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the EH&S functions and ensure all key processes are aligned with the hospital’s goals
• Serve as the organization-wide Safety Office and coordinate the ongoing system of information collection and identify and deficiencies and opportunities for improvement
• Provide support to senior leadership in setting the strategic and financial direction of regulatory compliance services for the leadership
• Establish regulatory compliance priorities, defining roles and responsibilities, building capacity, and creating systems of accountability
• Oversee operations regarding personnel, hazardous materials, record keeping, and related customer services
• Coordinate activities of the management plans within the Environment of Care and chair the Environmental Council for the system
• Provide education and training to leaders concerning the interpretation of the Joint Commission hospital standards
• Report operating and financial performance on a monthly basis
• Direct and manage the regulatory compliance functions for the system including the performance of mock surveys, tracer reviews, life safety assessments, and document review for Joint Commission accreditation
• Provide support to the organization in reviewing complaints from state and/or federal government bodies and advise the organization accordingly
