Job Description

National Airlines, based in Orlando, FL, operates passenger charter service as well as customized military and commercial air cargo carriages worldwide. National Airlines specializes in over-sized, time sensitive, and special handling requirements, utilizing 757-200, 747-400 and A-330 aircraft to accomplish its missions.

Job Title: Assistant DER/HR Generalist

Location: Orlando, Florida

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: Human Resources Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: The Assistant DER/HR Generalist will share in delivering HR services at National Airlines’ headquarters in Orlando and to our geographically scattered aircraft crewmembers; has shared responsibility for benefits administration, recruitment, filing, enforcing company policies and procedures and general office duties.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintain personnel and recruiting files.
  • May perform other duties as required or directed.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.
  • Ensure compliance with Affirmative Action requirements by, among other things, engaging in outreach in the community to attract minorities, women, veterans, and individuals with disabilities, and maintain detailed records to record National’s efforts.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Performs benefits administration triage to include researching employee concerns, connecting with carriers and correcting errors; and communicating benefits information to employees.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for opening.
  • Maintain an active Education Program on drug and alcohol abuse, testing and record checks, collection processes, random testing, maintain files and records in accordance with DOT/FAA audit.
  • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the database; onboard and off-board new employees.
  • Ensure all laws, regulations and National’s policies and procedures relating to recruitment and hiring are strictly adhered to and that all records to prove our compliance are maintained in auditor-ready condition.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS system.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Education and qualifications:

  • Knowledge of AIMS, ECrew, Sabre, etc.
  • Experience with Paylocity a plus.
  • College degree in relevant discipline, or related field.
  • 1-2 years experience in a Drug and Alcohol coordinator related role
  • Experience with Affirmative Action requirements for US government contractors, discrimination laws, Fair Credit Reporting Act requirements, I-9 requirements.
  • At least 3 years in HR role reflecting experience in core HR functions.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge and experience with the internet including search agent applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

National Airlines requires all team members to complete a record in National’s Vaccination Tracking Tool.
