Job Description
Oxford Instruments is looking to add a Spectroscopy Applications Specialist to join the Andor team!
This role is based in the Western USA (anywhere West of the Mississippi (California ideally, Texas, Arizona, Ohio, Nevada, etc.) Easy access to major airport required.

About the Opportunity:
This is an exciting and challenging role, forming part of the Global Applications Team, you have the opportunity to directly impact the success of the Physical Science Business. The Spectroscopy Application Specialist is a dynamic member of our team and is respected as an expert in their field, by both our customers and our sales teams. Through understanding our customer needs and presenting our products you drive increased sales success and help to grow the business and help our customers advance their research. Through participating in external events and generating marketing collateral you expand your influence and grow our presence through a wide range of physical science markets including: Material Science, Chemistry and Plasma Science. You will be instrumental in our technical discussion with customers, fully understanding the customers job to be done, and ensuring that we offer the best solution. This role extends to working with our customers to deliver applications notes and similar marketing collateral. In this position, you are valued as the voice of the customer within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities: Develop the Andor Spectroscopy Business in the Americas Strengthen existing customer relationships and develop new business relationships within the Spectroscopy research community. Work to support US sales team and distributors with technical and application expertise thus expanding the reach and business potential in the spectroscopy market Develop the spectroscopy business, in close collaboration with the local sales engineers Leveraging your business development experience to penetrate new academic and industrial accounts and locate opportunities for research sales Develop and execute a focused physical science competitive account strategy to create new opportunities for Andor Spectroscopy products replacing entrenched competitors Business development strategies should include on-line and face to face meetings, product and applications focused presentations, with appropriate collateral tied to outreach campaigns to enrol interest Cooperate with marketing on suitable outreach, presentations, collaterals, presentations, newsletters and webinars Be the recognised expert in the field of spectroscopy, partaking in proactive customer visits to promote the Andor spectroscopy portfolio, seminars and attendance at suitable conferences Internally participate in Commercial Execution Team activities to assist Product Management in defining and implementing sales and marketing strategies for each solution and service in the spectroscopy portfolio Evaluate product and service offering in terms of customers’ technical needs ensuring customers need is addressed and provided for in conjunction with sales team colleagues Collate customer feedback and report as required Provide product and application training to both sales staff, channel partners and end-users customers Establish and maintain strong industry contacts within spectroscopy community that support both industry knowledge and lead to sales Work with regional staff, HQ and other internal operations to establish a communication path with the customer Attend sales meetings and offer feedback and suggestions to improve product solutions Travel as required to meet and develop sales targets which is expected to be a minimum of 40% of time. Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by your Line Manager.
About the Candidate:
The right candidate for this position will have a graduate Degree or equivalent in a Physical Science Discipline; Chemistry or Physics preferable degree programmes, PHD is preferred. Strong technical knowledge, understanding and application of spectroscopy including at least one of the following optical techniques: Raman Spectroscopy, Luminescence/Photoluminescence/ Fluorescence, Absorption/Transmission/Reflection, Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS), or Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES)”; 2 years’ experience in sales and/or technical role within a commercial organisation, Experience of using Andor equipment is highly desireable.

Ability to travel (up to 40%) Salary: In accordance with California law, the expected annual base salary range for this position is between $100,000 - $120,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law. This position is also eligible for a variable 30% commission at plan.
