Job Description

The Application Specialist I supports the successful implementation and operation of assigned modules/applications through effective planning, analysis, documentation, training and support. Individuals are expected to gain knowledge and experience that prepares them to advance to the Application Specialist II position.


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the area of assignment (administrative, financial, clinical or nursing) or the equivalent effective healthcare/application support experience.


Experience


  • Previous experience with IT Application support build, support, and maintenance; Meditech or another electronic medical record software; and/or Oracle or other ERP solutions.
  • Previous experience with computers, relevant applications, networks and client/server systems is preferred.
  • One year experience in the area(s) of assignment (administrative, financial, clinical or nursing), which has provided the applicant with significant exposure to and knowledge of relevant operating policies and procedures, processes and interdependencies.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities


  • Effective teaching skills are required.
  • Interest in, and enthusiasm for technology and its potential for improving inter- and intra-departmental efficiency and effectiveness is a must.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to listen well to others is required.
  • Organizational and motivational skills, including the proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and positively motivate non-subordinate personnel to achieve desired actions and outcomes is required.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED


Receives guidance from Application Specialist II. Receives general supervision from the Manager, IT Clinical Applications.
