Ai/Ml Engineer Intern - Image Analysis

Job Summary:
The successful candidate will be working at the interface of AI/ML and materials science. The AI/ML intern in this position will be working to develop state-of-the-art supervised and unsupervised image annotation tools to characterize complex microscopy images, and quantify their properties, while working on the foundations of a deep learning model trained on the annotations or manually labeled data with the goal of scaling up image analysis. This is a highly-collaborative position.
Job Responsibilities:

• Familiarity with common data science toolkits.
• Possess strong mathematics skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly, understand and solve complex problems.
• Develop a deep learning pipeline for image analysis in python.
• Be a self-starter and work independently with a can-do attitude.
• Test ideas iteratively in collaboration with teammates and SMEs.
• Curate, annotate and pre-process datasets for training ML models.'
• Proficient in at least one programming language (advanced Python preferred)
• Strong time management skills, ability to deliver results on schedule.

Required Qualifications:
Enrollment in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science or the equivalent academic programs.
1 year of University, laboratory and/or industrial experience using AI/ML to build deep learning for data analysis resulting in interpretable metrics and statistics.
1 year experience with image analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science or the equivalent
2 yrs Experience using AI/ML for image analysis
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work for extended periods of time on a computer.
Compensation:
The expected base salary range for this position is between $35-40 per hour. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
