Job Description

At Air, we are looking for only a few more A players who want to join a rocket ship startup. (We’ve already turned down thousands of applications because we only want to accept the best in the world)

At Air, our initial goal is to create conversational AI that is indistinguishable from a human and passes a full verbal turing test.


We have already built and are obsessively perfecting the world’s first conversational AI that can perform full 5-40 minute long sales & customer service calls over the phone that sound like a human - and can perform actions autonomously across 5,000 unique applications. This is the future of the entire, $5-trillion/year, sales and customer service industry.

We currently have over 60,000 businesses on our wait-list ready to use this the moment we give them access. (And for our early beta testers, Air is already on live calls, talking to real people every single day, profitably producing for real businesses.)


We launched a few adjacent softwares in January in profitably scaled to over $30MM in contracts (pacing $100M over then next 12 months) and produced tens of thousands of hours of proprietary call data, which allowed us to self fund the building of our conversational AI, Air.)

And every “all time great” team throughout history has 2 similarities:


1) They are lean and have extreme autonomy. (Aka bloat and greatness don't correlate.)

2) They only consist of A players only (B-players aren't allowed to even breathe around the organization. Great teams have a way of pushing B players out.)


Our goal is to create a playground for the best engineers and minds on the planet - to be able to work together and solve INCREDIBLY difficult problems with high amounts of autonomy, have access to lots of data, compute, capital, initial users, and the freedom to innovate and create at warp speed. At Air, you will be a MASSIVE contributor or you won’t be allowed to contribute at all. This isn’t a place where you’ll be a cog in a wheel or spend months or years working on something only for it to not be used. You will be one of the only FEW core contributors on the team and your work will actually get into the hands of millions of users and have the opportunity to WOW them. At Air, we want engineers to get the credit and recognition they deserve. (We truly believe the builders of the world are the ones to be admired… not the celebrities… but the people like you).


We want Air to be the place where the modern day Edison’s, Tesla’s, Graham-Bell’s, Einstein’s, Feynman’s, etc. come to work and flourish.


And we are actively looking to bring on a few more core A-players (we will turn down 100,000 applications if necessary before veering from our principles and standards.)


Is Air For You?

Now, we mention this term “A-player” a lot, so what does being an “A-player” mean to us? Well, there’s 3 criteria that we believe makes up an “A player”:


  1. Someone that is naturally obsessive and that, once they believe in something, is willing to work a minimum of 12 hours a day (An obsessive... they think about “air” all the time… they are all in)
  2. Someone who is the best in the world at what they do & has a mountain of evidence of exceptional ability at their craft (Yet is still learning voraciously and rapidly. They have a dichotomy of knowing they are the best in the world but still feels like they are at ground zero. – Internally we have a saying: “it will never be good enough for us… and that’s good enough for us”)
  3. Someone who is “one of us” - the thought of working with them everyday excites us (Businesses are at their best when everyone enjoys who they are going to war with everyday)

How do you know if Air is for you? Well, this is probably for you if you have a strong level of experience, if you are consistently the top performer on your team, and if you’ve always been the person the team turns to when they need to solve the seemingly impossible problems - BUT you still have a STRONG hunger & chip on your shoulder to contribute more than you ever have in your career up until this point.


Positional Criteria For An AI/ML Engineer:

  • Constantly focuses on improving existing models, as opposed to pioneering new research.
  • Bonus: Brings experience with real-time audio models. This would have significant impact on our operations in audio processing.
  • Bonus: Experience or past work demonstrating quick iterations for implementing recent publications.
  • Demonstrates a strong history of rapid implementation of new findings and research papers along with the ability to fine-tune and enhance performance
  • Has a proven track record in fast and effective implementation of academic papers. This is crucial for keeping our technology ahead of the competition.


Comp:

Salary: $250k-$1M a year + equity (yes, it’s a wide range… but so is the level of contribution someone on the team makes)
