Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Lead Engineer, perform aerospace analysis by solving problems using advanced CAD/CAE software. Typical applications include launch vehicles, spacecraft, aircraft, and general mechanical systems. Some overlap with our world-class controls engineering division is expected:

• Performing structural analysis and verifying design integrity
• Developing custom tools for task automation and advanced post-processing
• Dynamic and transient analysis
• Correlating test data to FEM predictions
• Static analysis and buckling
• Finite element model creation for both linear and nonlinear simulation
• Generating reports and documenting analysis results for customers

Additionally, experience with one of these specialties/disciplines is highly desirable (but not required):

• Fracture/fatigue analysis
• Coupled Loads Analysis (CLA)
• Systems engineering and requirements definition
• Spaceflight hardware test campaigns
• Optomechanical design
• Multibody dynamics and kinematics
• Thermal analysis

Qualifications

• Must be willing and eager to learn new skills, software packages, and engineering disciplines
• Proficiency in one or more of the following commercial finite element analysis codes: Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, or LS-DYNA
• B.S. or M.S. degree from an ABET accredited program in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering field
• Strong planning and organizational skills to complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy
• Proficiency with use of computer programming and scripting tools such as MATLAB, Python, Excel, or Visual Basic/VBA
• Minimum 3 years of analytical engineering experience (2 years with M.S.)
• Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident
