Summary
The Advisor, Financial Analysis and Business Partnering provides financial and analytical support to the Agency's strategic and operational planning processes by supporting the annual budget processes and leadership on resource allocation decisions across the Agency. Reporting to the Senior Advisor, you will collaborate with business units and the global movement to foster excellence in financial management reporting across the organization. As a strategic business partner, you will provide vital support to multiple teams and divisions, and will be accountable for operational excellence in divisional revenue and expense planning, working closely with division leaders to provide consultative and advisory recommendations to managers on data analysis and performance reporting.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Business Partnering, Support, and Analysis (40%)
- Define and socialize best practices among teams, share efficiencies by leveraging operational and financial knowledge to improve existing processes and support teams in goal achievement
- Liaise with various teams and divisions, providing support and guidance navigating budget and expense transactions internally and externally with Save the Children International and other Save the Children members, ensure budget holders have resources needed to comply with financial policies and procedures
- Support in evolvement of financial reporting across the Agency to provide the Senior Leadership Team with timely information to support decision-making
- Responsible for monitoring and reporting financials influencing multi-year strategic goals and priorities
- Facilitate regular discussions and touch points with budget owners to review variances of actuals to budget, changes to budget/plans, and support in addressing questions or concerns regarding performance to budget by providing meaningful and accurate financial analysis to assist in decision-making at the portfolio level
- Analyze and provide accurate and meaningful feedback on Budget vs Actual (BvA) performance for revenue and expense reporting
- Provide proactive support to budget holders and senior management in helping to define best practices or structures for financial measurement based on existing financial systems
- Prepare and present insightful reporting on key results, while monitoring and communicating trends and risks in forecasted and actual results
- Responsible for development and timely and accurate regular production of Agency-wide financial analysis and reporting related to month-, year-end, and ad-hoc, as needed
Annual Budget Process & Budget Revisions (40%)
- Coordinate detailed review of business units’ P&L
- Facilitate team development of the annual budget and bi-annual budget revisions by leading internal processes and ensuring timely deliverables and strategic alignment to Agency goals and priorities
- Provide guidance and capacity building to support the annual planning cycle
- Ensure integrity of budget tools and train staff, as needed on budget processes
- Review and validate final budgets and support upload into Agresso
- Analyze and summarize revenue and expense inputs and ensure accurate translation into sources and uses
- Ensure operational excellence in revenue planning, budgeting and reporting for a portfolio of teams and divisions
Project Management (10%)
- Support federated organizational model including global projects and external benchmarking
Capacity Building (10%)
- Train relevant audiences on budget and planning matters, ensuring objective materialization with high degree of client service
- Support Agency-wide standard management reporting processes and metrics by creating templates, job aids, and other materials, and produce reporting packages as required
- Maintain complete and accurate internal process documentation, including submissions to Finance Manual update and creation or enhancement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Required Qualifications
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficient skills in management of databases and financial management systems
- Demonstrated focus on quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement
- Proven problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with ability to successfully balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Proven quantitative and analytical skills with demonstrated experience in Financial Planning & Modeling and working with large and complex financial data sets
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Demonstrated anticipation and prompt attention to internal client service delivery with effective interaction at all levels and across all departments
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Unit 4 Agresso financial system and/or other ERP & CRM systems (Salesforce, Sap, Workday, Blackbaud)
- Finance experience within a federated not-for-profit/non-governmental organization
- Familiarity with one or more of the following languages: Working knowledge of SQL and SAS OR Python or R
- Excel VBA, Power Query, DAX / Power BI, Tableau and other financial analysis, BI and data visualization tools
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
- Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $76,500 – $85,500 base salary
- Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $84,150 – $94,050 base salary
- Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $68,850 – $76,950 base salary
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location. Employee may be eligible for an incentive program. Save the Children also offers paid vacation, accrued at least 12 days a year, depending on paygrade and length of service, paid safety and wellness leave of at least 1 day per month worked for a full time employee which is pro rata reduced for employees working less than a full time schedule, and at least 10 paid holidays a year. Employees may be eligible for additional bonus compensation.
