Overview Medical Records Data Specialists are responsible for managing and maintaining medical records for healthcare organizations. They ensure that all medical records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. They may also be responsible for coding and abstracting medical records, as well as providing support to other departments. Detailed Job Description Medical Records Data Specialists are responsible for managing and maintaining medical records for healthcare organizations. This includes ensuring that all medical records are accurate, up-to-date, and compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. They may also be responsible for coding and abstracting medical records, as well as providing support to other departments. They must be knowledgeable of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology, as well as HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws. They must be able to use various software programs to enter, store, and retrieve medical records. Job Skills Required• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology

Job Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate’s degree in medical records or related field preferred
• Previous experience in medical records or related field preferred
• Certification in medical records or related field preferred
Job Knowledge
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws
• Knowledge of medical coding and abstracting
• Knowledge of various software programs used to enter, store, and retrieve medical records
Job Experience
• Previous experience in medical records or related field preferred
• Experience with medical coding and abstracting preferred
• Experience with various software programs used to enter, store, and retrieve medical records preferred
