Job Description

West Coast Production Manager, Production (Remote)

Full-Time, Remote / Salary, Exempt / Includes Benefits, PTO, Flexible Schedule, Equity

Steno is growing! We’re looking for a Production Manager to join our winning team, which is revolutionizing the court reporting industry every single day. We’re a diverse team from all over the country (and beyond) and we’re crazy about redefining the boundaries of an outdated industry.

In this role, you will help drive efficiency in process improvement and productivity for an experienced team of Production Assistants and Associates, while striving for excellence in client services.

Who are you?

We’re looking for an experienced leader from the court reporting or legal services industry who knows the ins and outs of production management. You should also have management experience with production-focused teams, and you’ve had success in coaching employees and overseeing their development.

You should also be enthusiastic about the opportunity for growth within the company, while also helping the company grow. You’re comfortable wearing multiple hats; working not only with your team, but also other teams. You thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment and you’re able to master new skills and systems quickly.

If you’re looking for a company that offers support, guidance, an abundance of killer giphys, and unlimited potential to grow into your best self, you can bet we’d love to have you too.

On a regular basis you will:

  • Delegate and assign file management responsibilities in preparation for the transcript production process
  • Ensure the Production team is trained on handling of sensitive information and management of exhibits for cases
  • Oversee correspondence between court reporters and clients to ensure post-deposition tasks are completed at a high level
  • Support the Product Team by helping to develop more functional and efficient internal and client-facing products
  • Manage the Production Team against a set of KPIs, develop new KPIs as the business evolves, and motivate the team to deliver timely service for clients.
  • Troubleshoot issues and questions to and from the Production Team and other cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Identify areas for process improvement and create playbooks to communicate best practices and increase efficiency and productivity for the team
  • Work cross functionally to develop and implement ideas that help improve the efficiency and workflow of the Production Team.
  • Analyze the efficiency and productivity of the team through meaningful goal setting, clearly articulated metrics and meaningful use of analytical skills

You’re gonna crush it if:

  • You have experience building and scaling teams for optimal workflow, taking both employee and client experience into account
  • You’re a skilled people manager with 5+ years of experience in production management in the court reporting or legal services industries
  • You’re highly organized yet adaptable, you can translate broader company objectives into actionable goals for your teams, and you excel working cross-functionally and remotely in a startup environment
  • Bonus points for experience with Google Drive or building internal wikis
  • You operate with a strong sense of ethics around things like confidentiality, discretion, and integrity; you manage a team of individuals who often deal with sensitive information and you know how to create meaningful process and lead by example in handling that information
  • You’re skilled in conflict management and problem solving, action oriented, and you have a knack for picking up new technical skills quickly

Compensation & Benefits

  • Health, Vision, & Dental Benefits - generous company-sponsored health plans for both employees and dependents, including comprehensive vision & dental
  • Salary - $85,000 - $100,000
  • Access to a 401k through Guideline
  • A home office setup and a monthly stipend to offset internet and phone costs
  • Flexible Paid Time Off - allowing employees to find balance in their lives
  • Wellness/Mental Health - shared benefits to be used among employees and families
  • Options of Equity - we know our success is nothing without our team

Our Team

The production team is a highly reliable and super motivated team. A diverse group working throughout the country, we’re responsible for all final production of deposition transcripts.

We are tech-savvy perfectionists and collaborative team players. Not only do we work under tight deadlines, but we are also constantly evaluating and reevaluating our own processes to make them more efficient than they were the day before!

If a fast paced environment that keeps you on your toes is not for you, then the production team is probably not the right fit. But if you don’t shy away from a little chaos and you are a natural troubleshooter, then you may just find the home you are looking for here.
