The Wellness Advocate reports to the Vice President of Product Development and is responsible for providing support and encouraging program participants to establish lifelong healthy habits to maintain or improve health. The responsibilities of this position include reviewing inbound text messages with a focus on proactively and reactively identifying engagement opportunities to help participants achieve personal health and wellness objectives such as quitting smoking, losing weight, managing chronic conditions and more. Additional responsibilities include responding with motivational and encouraging text messages and identifying and triaging cases to appropriate plan sponsor/ case management resources. The Wellness Advocate will work under the direction of a certified Agile Health Coach in developing a comprehensive para-coaching program that supports the goals of the participants.

Key Responsibilities

• Other duties as assigned.
• Provide limited health coaching support for specified behavioral goals as defined by the assigned coach mentor.
• Access text messaging platform (Sherpa) to conduct assigned Wellness Advocate responsibilities.
• Follow necessary procedures to ensure that service delivery is compliant with SLA requirements and are in the best interest of the program participants.
• Respond via text messaging to members who request information or assistance.
• Support Customer Service as needed: answers incoming calls; assists customers with program enrollment and program operation questions, and benefit eligibility questions.
• Assists Client Management team by providing program information as requested.
• Support health coach team by triaging cases to determine if coach escalation or external clinical referral is necessary.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task, including the ability to understand multiple programs and multiple levels of benefits within each program.
• Certification from or concurrent enrollment in an accredited professional health coach training program preferred.
• Knowledge of specific disease and lifestyle-related topics such as smoking cessation, weight management, nutrition, stress reduction and chronic conditions.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in health promotion, health education, nursing, athletic training, nutrition, or other health-related field.
