What You Will Do:
The VP / Director Employee Relations will engage with employees and leaders cross functionally in multiple locations. The individual will be a strategic advisor and thought partner. This role will lead, execute and enhance existing employment practices and workplace policies maintaining compliance and improving employee relations.
Investigations
  • Leads investigations and is the primary point of contact for employee relations practices and processes.
    • Develops the framework for the investigation process.
    • Manages and directs all day-to-day employee relations’ tasks, including but not limited to HRBP talking points, written warnings, case summaries and communications.
  • Ensures compliance with collective bargaining agreements and leads union contract negotiations.
  • Assists with the data reporting and analytics of ER cases for themes, trends and root causes to provide insights and recommendations for decision making and ER risk prevention.
  • Manages and directs all day-to-day employee relations’ tasks, including but not limited to HRBP talking points, written warnings, case summaries and communications.
  • Develops the framework for the investigation process.
Compliance
  • Establish a practice to review and update Company policies bi-annually and introduce new policies and policy changes.
  • Partner with HRIS teams to ensure company systems are configured and designed to policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all government-required notices and postings.
  • Be the subject matter expert for employment laws, regulations, and executive orders (local, state, federal).

Required Experience:
  • Experience working in a matrixed environment.
  • Advanced understanding of employment and HR related laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to reason and compromise.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential matters with compassion while exhibiting exceptional professionalism and tact.
  • Excellent strategic decision making, problem solving, critical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Uphold the company’s global policies, principles, protocols, and guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, independently and collaboratively to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a wide variety of employee investigations and significant employee relations expertise.
  • Minimum of 7 years of People (HR) experience with at least 5 to 7 years specifically within Employee Relations, including experience working in a union environment.
  • Builds strong partnerships and demonstrates ability to work collaboratively, lead and influence at all levels within the organization, and can make decisions while keeping all partners and leaders informed.
Education:
  • JD or advanced degree in Labor or Industrial Relations preferred.
