Job Description
About Equitable Facilities Fund (EFF)

Equitable Facilities Fund (EFF) is a nonprofit social impact fund that's on a nationwide mission to help high-performing public charter schools spend more money on students and less on the costs of borrowing for their facilities. We offer school leaders simple and much-needed access to low-cost loans combined with support from an expert team that has walked in their shoes.

To date, EFF has committed over $1 billion to schools serving over 75,000 students, providing them with funding to amplify their impact. Equity is at the core of our mission, and we invest in schools that create opportunity for students and communities that have traditionally been denied access to high-quality educational opportunities.

If you're seeking to have a community-level impact on a national scale, apply to join our team!

The Opportunity

The Vice President, Talent ("VP Talent") will be a key leader of EFF's efforts to permanently transform financial and educational access for under-resourced communities. Reporting to the COO, the VP Talent will own and evolve best-in-class hiring, professional development, and culture-building strategies and systems. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in talent leadership with small-to-mid-size, mission-oriented organizations and serve as a relentless champion of our team's diversity, equity, and inclusion values.

Responsibilities

The VP Talent will be responsible for:
  • Managing inclusive talent searches to hire at least 3 roles across disparate org functions each year.
  • Leading the implementation and evolution of EFF's Fund II org design plan.
  • Talent Strategy & Acquisition:
  • Supporting development and recruitment efforts for our "Education Finance Analyst" that positions early-stage finance professionals from underrepresented backgrounds for success at EFF and partner orgs.
  • Networking with sector partners to build strategic talent pipelines.
  • Designing and managing employee on-boarding processes in conjunction with role managers.
  • Advising team members throughout role creation and hiring processes.
  • Professional Development:
  • Designing and/or contracting external parties to deliver PD opportunities and coaching that promotes high-quality managerial practices.
  • Managing EFF's performance management systems, including teammate eval processes, and promoting a culture of feedback and continuous learning.
  • Monitoring promotion tracks, identifying individual PD, and providing targeted support to accomplish EFF's goal of filling >75% of roles internally.
  • Facilitating weekly virtual team meetings to foster strong communication and engagement with key org and mission-oriented topics.
  • Administering annual culture surveys and conducting frequent informal pulse checks on team performance and morale.
  • Along with EFF's senior leaders, championing a healthy, excellence-oriented culture with equity and inclusion at its core.
  • Team Culture & Staff Engagement:
  • Managing EFF's DEI Committee and driving team-wide accountability for accomplishing key DEI objectives and milestones.
  • Driving fidelity to EFF's equitable compensation strategy and supporting a "refresh" of compensation bands every ~3 years.
  • Managing and advising senior leadership on any HR challenges that arise; including performance improvement, grievances, and employee off-boardings.
  • Managing PEO relationship and benefits processes; including annual benefits selection and requests related to worker's comp, health insurance, and employee leave.
  • Human Resources:
  • Ensuring EFF remains in compliance with all applicable HR regulations.

Qualifications

  • High degree of integrity, authenticity, and a good sense of humor
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Unyielding commitment to EFF's mission to ameliorate educational, financial, and racial inequities
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, solving problems, and creating structures to help teammates thrive
  • Experience managing talent strategy and systems at small/growing orgs (<50 FTE), nonprofits, and/or charter schools
  • High bar for excellence and commitment to giving and receive quality feedback
  • 10-15+ years of overall professional experience; 5+ years in talent leadership roles
  • Excellent organizational and project management abilities
  • Experience leading or supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives preferred
Compensation & Benefits
$155,000 - $180,000 annual base salary with a performance-based bonus of up to 10% of base salary. Starting compensation is commensurate with experience. We are proud to offer excellent benefits including a 6% 401k match; fitness stipends/perks; and unlimited PTO.
Location
We are open to applicants from across the U.S. The role will be expected to travel to 3+ days each month to participate in team activities.
Reporting Relationship
