Under general direction, the Inbound Verification Specialist, is responsible for accepting inbound calls to verify the data of job applicants’ education and employment history from employers and schools. This role will enter information into templates within the system and review for accuracy. This role will flag and follow discrepancy procedures regarding reporting differences in verification results through appropriate sources and channels. Strong organization and prioritization skills, high attention to detail, effective time management and able to adhere to all Departmental procedures and Fair Credit Reporting Act regulations are all key components of this role.
The ideal candidate has a customer-first mindset and aims to deliver high-quality service in every customer interaction.
Hours: The position requires 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm ET, with occasional additional hours as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Education:
High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required. Associates Preferred.
Experience:
1+ years’ experience with Verifications/Background Checks/Research preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:
This role is largely a sedentary in nature and involves sitting for long periods of time. The role requires the ability to hear and talk as well as to see data and adjust visual focus for computer and paper tasks, read, type, lift and/or carry equipment and files up to 20 pounds, walk, bend or stand as necessary.
Working Environment:
100% remote/telecommute

- Conducts all duties in accordance with FA policies, Fair Credit Reporting Act and any other state and federal laws.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Enters responses that come in from various sources, faxes/emails/calls, into the database along with reviewing bridge responses.
- Processes verification templates, making sure all forms are filled out properly and completely, along with properly documenting notes in the proprietary database system.
- Answering inbound calls to verify job applicants’ education and employment history.
- The role is responsible for building and maintaining strong working relationships with multiple internal clients and communicates to all levels of management regarding the company, client information and/or general questions or concerns.
- Flag and follow discrepancy procedures regarding reporting differences in verification results through appropriate sources and channels.
Education:
High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required. Associates Preferred.
Experience:
1+ years’ experience with Verifications/Background Checks/Research preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Certifications:
- Strong accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
- Comfort with phone communication as main means of obtaining and confirming applicant information.
- Excellent communication/customer service skills.
- Strong analytical and computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to multi-task, prioritizes, self-motivate, and effectively manage work schedule.
- Planning, organizational, and time management skills – Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
