Drexel Has A Total Population Of 1,760 Residents As Of The 2020 Census. The Town Is Located Near Morganton And Hickory And Is Only 75 Minutes To Charlotte. Drexel Is Undergoing A Transformative Opportunity, With The Town Having Acquired The Former 100-acre Drexel Furniture Site For Redevelopment. Federal, State, And Private Funding Currently Total $5 Million. The Town Manager Is Responsible For The Day-to-day Operations Of The Town With 21 Full-time Staff Who Work In Seven Departments Including Administration; Finance; Fire; Police; Planning; Public Works; And Recreation. The Position Requires Any Combination Of Education And Experience Equivalent To Graduation With A Bachelor’s Or Master’s Degree (preferred) In Public Administration Or A Related Field As Well As Some Experience As A Local Government Manager Or Department Head Preferred.
