Job Description

Integrated Resources Institute is a non-profit organization that assists individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. We are looking for a full-time Accountant to assist with day-to-day operations. This position is fully remote, however the preferred candidate must be located in Southern California for in-person meetings as needed.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • The Accountant will maintain records of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal requirement compliance.
  • The Accountant will oversee IRI’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and daily financial entries and reconciliations.
  • The Accountant is responsible for carrying out all directives that come from the Chief Executive Officer. The highest priority is to ensure all IRI accounting needs are handled in a proficient manner and adhere to all GAAP accounting principles.
  • The Accountant will work with the Chief Executive Officer and Operations Manager to provide analytical and well-documented reports to the management team.
  • The Accountant will assist in safeguarding the assets of IRI through account analysis, and regular monitoring of financial transactions.
  • The Accountant will work with the Chief Executive Officer in meeting the expectations of our external auditors.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Paycom and eRSP is a plus.
  • Minimum of three years’ relevant experience working in accounting.
  • Detail-oriented with high productivity; experience with multiple corresponding deadlines.
  • Strong organization and writing skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the non-profit sector is required.
  • Computer and technology skills to promote remote management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills of transactional accounting experience using QuickBooks Online.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential functions of the job are denoted. The Accountant assumes the following responsibilities under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and in collaboration with other members of the management team.

  • Maintain and monitor monthly account analysis and reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts and resolving reconciling items and issues noted in a timely manner.
  • Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
  • Establish targets and manage all accounting and finance employees including management accountants and internal auditors.
  • Generate financial reports to directors to support them in understanding any billing or payroll discrepancies.
  • Guarantee compliance with financial laws and guidelines.
  • Protect company operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Recognize patterns in company spending, revenue, and recommend solutions to any problem areas.
  • Perform regular financial analysis.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Develop budgets that meet the requirements of company departments.
  • Process billing and payroll through Paycom.
  • Supervise all audit and internal control processes.
  • Document financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Coordinate with external financial entities on behalf of the company.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the company’s financial performance for the Board of Directors.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting operations.
  • All other duties as assigned by Chief Executive Officer.
  • Maintain accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the financial strategic planning of the company by evaluating its performance and potential risks.
  • Preparing various audit schedules as requested.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • In an eight-hour working day the employee is required to stand an average of one hour, sit an average of six hours and walk an average of one hour.
  • During the working day the employee must frequently bend and stoop, climb stairs, reach above shoulder level, balance and pull and push, and drive.
  • The employee is required to use both hands for at least a portion of the day.
