Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW – Team Manager


Lifeworks is seeking a Team Manager for our East Metro Employment Team to work together with the Senior Manager and other Team Managers to plan and delivery of services for adults with disabilities with measurable outcomes. This position will oversee direct support professionals and will report to the Senior Manager.


Position Title: Team Manager –East Metro Employment Team


Department: Program Services


Hours: Full Time; 40 hours/week, Monday – Friday (exempt)


Location: Lifeworks Services – Twin Cities Metro Area

You’ll succeed in this role if you have the following skills and experiences:


  • Ability to give work direction and supervise multiple staff
Qualifications: Internal candidates that do not possess the minimum experience levels but demonstrate exceptional performance and strong potential may be considered for the role as a supervisor-in-training.


  • Define great performance for self and seeks to continually develop skills to improve performances. Follow safety procedures and assist in identifying safety needs for self and others. Contribute to the organization’s mission by complying with policies and procedures, using resources wisely and performing other duties as assigned as necessary.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships and community contacts to increase employment and social opportunities for individuals.
  • Take ownership of and ensure completion and reporting of assigned performance metrics (KIRs of operational measures to track and improve operational efficiencies.
  • Experience in writing programs for people with disabilities
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Review client goals and outcomes to ensure program staff are following methodologies and fulfilling desired outcomes.
  • A four-year degree in a human service field or related field, plus a minimum of 3 years of related work experience with at least two years in direct supervision of others.
  • Financial acumen, experience with profit and loss How you’ll be spending your time:
  • Strong business acumen
  • Skills in decision making, problem solving, technology, coaching and performance management
  • Candidate must complete and pass a pre-employment background study; a physical and drug screen; and have access to reliable transportation for work purposes.
  • Responsible for programs financial statement; including monitoring expenses and achieving projected revenue targets, including customer-facing time.
  • Understand and ensure adherence to standards for facilities, transportation, health and safety, intake and other procedures related to program services including 245D and CARF.
  • Facilitate high levels of employee engagement with consistent employee recognition efforts and employee development activities. Support employees’ professional development with career development conversations.
  • Ensure that the program is operating efficiently and effectively by ensuring adequate number of staff, scheduling, giving work direction and providing coverage as needed.
  • Commit 30% of time to billable, customer-facing tasks.
  • Ensure that staff comply with Lifeworks policies and procedures
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Must meet Designated Coordinator Status. Designated Manager status preferred.
  • Select and supervise program employees including coaching, training, addressing performance, and recognizing and reinforcing desired performance.
  • Work effectively with other supervisors and managers to achieve Lifeworks’ mission and strategic plan.
