Rasmussen Group is the management organization for nine businesses that operate to service the heavy construction industry throughout the Central United States. The synergies among these companies have allowed Rasmussen Group to grow and innovate in the same way that Jensen Construction, a century-old, 4th-generation family company, has throughout the years.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Tax Director to oversee tax compliance, tax planning, special projects and family office duties for the Rasmussen Group and its family owners. The Tax Director will oversee the Tax Manager, work closely with the Chief Financial Officer on potential merger and acquisition transactions and other special projects, and interact with family owners on financial, investment, tax planning and estate issues. This position is onsite for 3-4 days per week.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Supervise and review federal and state tax return preparations for over a dozen entities and multiple family owners
- Interact with CFO, Tax Manager, and family owners via in-person, telephone, letters and email
- Work with the Tax Manager to resolve routine to complex accounting and tax problems with the assistance of Rasmussen Group’s external CPA firm
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Respond timely to family owners’ requests for assistance on a variety of investment opportunities, financial, tax and estate situations
- Preparation of periodic personal financial statements for family owners
- Interact with various financial advisors for family owners
- Assist management and advisors with mergers and acquisition activity
- Build and manage relationships with family owners

Qualifications

Education/Experience
- Requires CPA, E.A., JD/LL.M. in taxation or Master’s in Taxation (MST) and/or completion of an advanced degree or professional designation.
- Ability to foster relationships both internally as well as with clients and desire to perform in a team environment
- Involvement in family office management is desired
- Minimum eight years of recent experience preparing federal and state income tax returns for pass-through and corporate entities, providing technical advice on multi-state tax issues, and performing tax planning for known and pending transactions or regulation changes.
