Job Overview

The Tax Specialist role can be assigned to anyone of the various tax compliance disciplines, including income, sales and use and property taxes. This position prepares state and local tax returns, annual reports and other miscellaneous compliance, including administration of tax calendar. This position also assists with development, implementation, and execution of efficient processes. Perform other duties as assigned. This position is located in Springdale, Ohio.

Essential Functions

• Regular, dependable attendance & punctuality.
• Tax Compliance: Supports tax compliance for assigned returns with a focus towards accuracy and timeliness, support/own tasks as assigned, manage notices for assigned returns and other tasks as assigned.
• Development, special projects, other - pursue pipeline and developmental opportunities including tax training, software training, HR sponsored training, and/or give back opportunities at Macy’s.
• Research various federal, state and local tax issues to be communicated with others.
• Other duties, including supporting audits function, as assigned.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Strong attention to detail
• Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university preferred
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and Company needs
• Effective written and verbal communication skills both internally and externally
• Ability to interface effectively with numerous partners within Macy’s
• Must have above average mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages
• Ability to think creatively, strategically and technically
• Must be able to work independently, under minimal supervision
• Knowledge of MS Office computer programs are required
• 1-2 years related experience
• Ability to research tax literature
