Job Summary And Mission


This position contributes to Starbucks’ success by delivering and supporting Global Sourcing & Sustainability technology solutions, enabling highly cross-functional, global, enterprise-wide strategic initiatives. As a systems analyst on this team, you will help shape the future of the Global Sourcing at Starbucks and be an integral part of the company’s core mission and values.


Bring your experience in requirements analysis, solution design, and system configuration, along with the ability to collaborate across various technology and business functions. In delivering new technology products and enhancing/supporting existing systems, an effective systems analyst contributes relevant technical, functional, and process knowledge to ensure a consistent user experience and scalable, optimized solutions.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities


Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


Solution Delivery


Identifies and effectively assesses improvement opportunities (productivity/efficiency gains, cost savings, etc.)


  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents business requirements to support the design and development of technology and/or process solutions
  • Supports project initiation efforts by assisting in the definition of project scope and the identification/selection of targeted solution(s). Assists project management in the development of work plans, effort estimates, and delivery timelines.
  • Performs application configuration in support of solution delivery initiatives
  • Supports project initiation efforts by assisting in the definition of project scope and the development of work plans, estimates, and timelines
  • Coordinates solution delivery activities with vendors as required
  • Gathers, analyzes, and documents business requirements to support the design and development of technology and/or process solutions
  • Performs application configuration in support of solution delivery initiatives
  • Translates business requirements into technology solutions. Clearly defines and communicates targeted functional solution via functional design specifications. Verifies technical designs satisfy functional requirements.
  • Proactively identifies and effectively pursues process improvement opportunities
  • Creates system and end-user documentation to support new system implementation, enhancement deployment, and incident management efforts. Delivers training and performs knowledge transfer to team members as required.
  • Participates in solution testing efforts by developing test plans, preparing test environments, coordinating test execution, and validating test results
  • Creates system and end-user documentation to support new system implementation, enhancement deployment, and incident management efforts
  • Utilizes reporting/query tools to write simple to moderately complex ad-hoc queries and create operational/analytical reports
  • Leverages relevant process and technology expertise to propose appropriate solution options
  • Delivers training and performs knowledge transfer to team members as required
  • Participates in solution testing efforts by developing test plans, preparing test environments, coordinating the test execution, and validating test results.


Production Support


  • Provides support for integration with various internal and external applications
  • Coordinates issue resolution efforts across peer support groups, business users and vendors as required
  • Leverages subject matter expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting moderately complex system/user issues to drive resolution and determine root cause


Coordination/Leadership


  • Effectively facilitates/negotiates through challenging situations
  • Interfaces across organization levels comfortably with internal business customers, cross-functional technical peers, and external business partners, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership
  • Provides constructive input and perspective to team conversations
  • Self-directed; is successful with minimal direction and provides guidance and support to consultants


Basic Qualifications


  • Ability to write moderate SQL queries
  • Sustainability (Socio-economic and Environmental Responsibility, Resiliency, Governance)
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization, and familiarity with analysis tools (Power BI, Tableau, others)
  • Strong knowledge of supply chain systems to enable complex, cross-functional operational capabilities, including but not limited to:
  • Experience with EDI or other B2B data exchange technologies
  • Experience supporting multi-domain system integrations
  • Knowledge of enterprise applications and interest to learn and adapt to other products
  • Supply Chain Management (Planning, Sourcing, Procurement, Supplier Lifecycle Management)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience writing user stories, refining product backlogs, and delivering in an agile environment
  • Understanding of technical nuances and system architecture


Preferred Experience


  • Experience with supplier sustainability and/or ESG technology
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement principles and concepts
  • Experience developing and managing EDI platforms
  • Proficiency in Oracle EBS, specifically E-Commerce Gateway, Purchasing, and Finance
  • Understanding of data science principles and concepts
  • Strong project management skills
