As a member of our FAA Enterprise Network Services (FENS) team, you will bring your passion, education and experience to this critical mission and interact directly with decision-makers and government staff who are tasked with ensuring the nation's air transportation system's underlying communications infrastructure is secure and always available. What you’ll be doing...
As a Systems Administrator for our FAA FENS Test & Evaluations Lab in Richardson, TX you will be responsible for the design, implementation, management, and testing of multiple complex virtualized applications supporting the lab testbed. You will work alongside the Sr. Systems Administrator and other lab engineers to plan and support testing activities to meet the scope and timeline identified by customer requirements and program management. Other responsibilities include:
- Conducting system design activities involving servers, network devices, virtualized operating systems and applications.
- Keeping up to date with new application features and enhancements; work with test engineers to plan and test new systems and functions within the lab environment.
- Closely monitoring system and server performance.
- Working alongside the Sr. Systems Administrator to develop processes and plans for testing servers and virtualized applications.
- Installing servers and applications within the lab testbed that will support safety critical functionality and security framework.

You are a collaborative teammate and participate in active network discussions and solutions.
You'll need to have:
- Ability to analyze a process and provide improvement recommendations.
- Knowledge of database and SQL environments.
- Experience in developing scalable, high availability systems with disaster recovery..
- Experience in developing and optimizing server architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Four or more years of relevant work experience
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Ability to plan and implement virtualized server environments, configure VMWare, Windows and Linux based operating systems, and install a wide variety of specialized hosted applications.
- A degree
- Knowledge of testing processes and troubleshooting methodologies, ability to analyze situations and make recommendations on solutions.
- Problem solving skills – provide efficient and effective troubleshooting of technical issues that arise.
- Strong communication skills
- Critical thinking skills – the ability to analyze situations and help make important decisions related to the IT infrastructure.
