Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
The Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (OSRR) promotes a campus climate of integrity, civility, accountability, and student well-being by providing a wide array of resources, education, and support services for the university community. OSRR also includes Student Conduct and Academic Integrity & Student Care Services. OSRR oversees the Golden Rule Student Handbook, The UCF Creed, the Admission Clearance process, Dean’s Certifications and Remedial Measures for students involved in Title IX related incidents.
The Opportunity:
The Student Care Coordinator is charged with addressing needs of university students having problems in areas such as academics, mental or emotional health, psychological, economic, family, relationships & social adjustments through a variety of interventions, referrals & follow up services.
Responsibilities include assessment, care management, collaboration and consultation with academic deans, faculty, health care providers, parents, UCFPD, other university and community partners and colleagues within the Division of Student Success and Well-Being.
Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate readmission of students, subsequent to a leave of absence due to disciplinary suspension.
  • Following up on prior cases to ensure compliance with recommendations.
  • Be a point of contact for local hospitals regarding mental and physical health concerns including scheduling and processing Baker Act/Marchman Act referrals.
  • Collecting, evaluating, and recording all facts pertaining to reports of student of concern.
  • Reports to the Director, Student Care Services.
  • Participate in University Crisis Team meetings and present relevant case material as needed.
  • Maintain an electronic database (records management system).
  • Participate on Student of Concern Team which meets weekly to review reports of Students of Concern and make recommendations to the Director, Student Care Services regarding resources and referrals and serve as chair on an as-needed basis.
  • Providing referrals to support services within the university as well as community agencies.
  • Consistently document and connect with Academic Services and Graduate Studies for students who have initiated Medical Withdrawal.
  • Providing additional follow-up and outreach to students processed through the Student of Concern after initial concerns have been addressed.
  • Conduct outreach efforts directed at students, faculty, and staff regarding the Student of Concern reporting process, University resources, and working with students in distress.
  • Prepare annual reports, monthly reports, and weekly reports with accurate statistical information.
  • Participate in the education, outreach, and planning efforts for UCF Cares.
  • Interpret University policy regarding students and make recommendations when policy changes are needed.
  • Formulating intervention plans in order to minimize and/or resolve problems with students of concern.
  • Performing social evaluations to determine students' needs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director, Student Care Services.
  • Coordinate efforts for compliance with university mandated-assessment policy for Baker Act and Marchman Act students.
  • Assisting with daily correspondence and communication with students and Students of Concern reporters
  • Contacting emergency contacts, when necessary and appropriate, to mobilize parental support for the students' needs.
  • Act as community liaison by building consistent and relevant off-campus partnerships, in order to assist students with social services needs including, but not limited to, facilitating access to medical care, off-campus housing, and financial assistance.
  • Communicate class absences and death notices to relevant university partners.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's and 2+ years of relevant experience or master’s degree and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, presentation skills, critical-thinking skills, use of sound judgement.
  • Ability to take initiative, balance multiple projects, set priorities and work autonomously yet also as a member of a team.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to interpret data, distinguish nuances, and evaluate multiple courses of action.
  • Strong attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Experience screening calls and working with students.
  • Ability to communicate difficult/sensitive information.
  • Ability to effectively interact with a diverse population.
  • Skills relevant to establishing and maintaining successful partnerships with students and student organizations, parents, faculty/staff, administration, members of the community and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in higher education case management, background in higher education, student affairs, or counseling.
  • Experience working in an urban education environment.
