BONNET HOUSE MUSEUM & GARDENS
DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
FULL TIME-EXEMPT
General Responsibilities: This position assists in maintaining and expanding funding for the Museum through membership gifts, event sponsorships, other fundraising activities, and special projects.The position reports to the Director of Development.
Duties
1.Prepare and send monthly membership renewal notices for the museum’s existing members and other materials as appropriate to enroll new and lapsed members. This will include working with the Altru/Blackbaud team to ultimately convert this into an electronic process.
2.Prepare and send membership acknowledgments/cards and tax receipts where appropriate.
3.Develop programs and incentives to upgrade existing members to higher levels of membership.
4.Work with the Director of Development, Marketing Director, and other users on the Altru database to maximize use of the resource both for staff and member/donor constituents. This work will include cleaning out duplicate records in the Altru database.
5.Develop, prepare, and send sponsorship proposals for Bonnet House fundraising events including the International Orchid Festival, Holiday Magic and any other fundraising events in conjunction with the Director of Development and Director of Marketing. This will also include but not limited to working on logistics, working with artists and vendors, and event registration.
6.Provide support as needed for board members and volunteers in their fundraising efforts and work to reach new, prospective sponsors and event attendees.
7.Prepare acknowledgement letters for event sponsors and tax receipts as appropriate.
8.Assist the Director of Development as needed to cultivate and steward major donors/sponsors and assist with the upcoming Capital Campaign.
9.Work with the Director of Marketing and Director of Operations at fundraising events to provide a welcoming atmosphere for guests and the smooth roll-out of the events.
10.Work with the Director of Development and Marketing Director to develop on-line fundraising campaigns for identified needs of the museum and crowd fundraising efforts as appropriate.Provide content for social media posts related to fundraising.
11.Assist the Director of Development with grants, reporting and data collection.
12.Abide by the Code of Ethics and the Mission and Vision Statements of Bonnet House Museum & Gardens
13.Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
•Bachelor’s degree, preferably in one of the liberal arts or museum studies
•Some fundraising/sponsorship solicitation experience, preferably in the arts and culture or museum sector, or other non-profit organizations, but will train the right person
•Other work experience in sales, marketing, or business relationship development and engagement may be considered as a substitute
•Interest in history, historic preservation, fine arts, or decorative arts
Skills and Abilities
•Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
•Basic understanding of the development and fundraising process
•Strong organizational skills
•Experience working with and motivating volunteers preferred
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including, Word, Excel, and Outlook
•Some desktop design and publishing skills using Photoshop, In-Design, and/or Publisher
•Proficient in working with social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and/or Twitter in a business setting
•Proficiency in Blackbaud‘s Altru or Raiser’s Edge software preferred
Job Requirements:
•Work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday during normal business hours
•Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed, particularly from December to May
•Ability to sit and concentrate for extended periods of time
•Ability to occasionally work outdoors in a hot and humid environment, walk unaided on uneven terrain, and climb stairs daily
•Ability to manage several projects at one time and meet multiple deadlines
•Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision
•Ability to meticulously manage donor files and maintain confidential information
•Ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 20 pounds un-aided
•Display a professional, collaborative, and friendly demeanor
•Possession of a valid driver’s license
•Non-smoker
