Our Human Resources team is seeking a full-time Strategic People Director, to join our growth-oriented professional engineering and environmental consulting company. We are seeking a positive, self-motivated person who enjoys leading and creating strategies to align with the business.

As the Strategic People Director, you will serve as a strategic advisor to business unit, enterprise, and area leaders, providing operational and consultative guidance to them and their leadership teams as it relates to talent strategy. You will develop and implement talent plans for retention, employee training, and development, recognition and reward, the succession of talent, employee engagement, and onboarding in partnership with other HR leaders and our Center of Excellence groups. You will equip business leaders and their teams with the tools and techniques which enable them to manage staff in alignment with Brown and Caldwell philosophies, policies, practices, and programs. You will engage with and provide direction to the HR Business Partners in support of company-wide Talent strategy.

Acting as an HR champion and change agent, you will aspire to be part of a team delivering strong talent and business results. You will have effective communication skills, be engaging, demonstrate resilience, and use innovative ideas and an agile approach to delivering the best possible outcomes. *This role has the potential to work virtually and can be filled near any BC office, preference for Denver, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, Detroit, Atlanta, or Nashville.

What you will do:

Leadership & Strategy Execution:

  • Create a culture to attract and retain top talent. Responsible for driving culture through HR strategies and processes.
  • Translate strategic and tactical business plans into operational, HR, and talent strategy plans that align with the overall BC strategy. Plans to include strategy around recruiting/internal mobility, training/learning and development, succession, restructuring, and org design.
  • Drive consistency across enterprise groups and business units/regions and influence leaders to break down silos
  • Drive value-added HR initiatives/strategy within assigned business units.
  • Partner with the HRBPs on the execution of talent strategy plans including engaging leaders and people managers.
  • Partner with members of the HR team to develop, maintain and execute company policies. This includes partnering and consulting directly with the HRBP and ER & Compliance team on sensitive employee relations matters.
  • Partner with our Talent Acquisition Senior Manager and Senior Director of Talent Management to develop and deploy a cutting-edge workforce strategy; identify and implement strategic opportunities to develop Talent practices.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on internal and external best practices.
  • Anticipate issues and problems and proactively address them before they become a hindrance to the business.
  • Demonstrate effective change management and communication strategies that align with business and workforce needs.
  • Understand and evaluate issues from multiple perspectives including those of assigned business units in order to provide sound recommendations and creative solutions.
  • As a key member of the HR leadership team, lead and shape the long-term vision and strategy for HR.
  • Leverage and analyze people's data and synthesize information to help leaders see trends and make informed and effective business decisions.
  • Build visibility and maintain strong relationships with business unit and enterprise teams and functional leaders
  • Partner with leaders on business strategy and strategic planning, utilizing data to understand the needs of the business and assess what value-added impact HR can provide to the business.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. An advanced degree in business, HR, or organizational development is strongly preferred.
  • Highly collaborative with a fierce commitment to and appreciation for the diversity of thought.
  • Must be well-versed in change management and creating alignment with a diverse set of employees.
  • Strong analytical skills, with a track record of using data and metrics to evaluate needs, drive change, and measure impact.
  • Proven willingness and ability to be hands-on and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in Human Resources, business, or related field required.
  • Outstanding communication skills, including effective writing, listening, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • SPHR or PHR preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills across levels, with an ability to persuade and influence, and the ability to build enthusiasm and commitment.
  • Prior experience as HR Generalist or Business Partner, Employee Relations Manager, or related HR function is required.

Salary Range: The anticipated starting pay range for this position is based on the employee’s primary work location and may be more or less depending on skills, experience, and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $137,000 - $187,000

Location B: $151,000 - $206,000

Location C: $164,000 - $225,000
