The Role

AMD is seeking a Senior Program Manager to join the Central Methodology & Tools (CMT) team. In this role, you will be part of the Program Management and Operations team that has program management responsibility for CAD and Verification methodology projects across the global CMT team as well as leads new process development and process improvement initiatives. The role is to function as a Program Manager for the Verification Methodology and Tools (VMT) team planning and managing projects throughout the organization.

The Person

This dynamic role will require a balance of technical and management aptitude along with soft skills. Must possess ability to coordinate and lead activities, influence process changes within peer teams, and have strong analytical skills. Out of box critical thinking and adeptness in simplifying for efficiency is a must. Data driven mindset is needed.

Key Responsibilities

Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

• Strong documentation and communication skills will be called upon frequently, especially in delivering clear and concise information to functional managers and executives
• Prepare and deliver Executive-Level project updates
• Develop project management best practices and processes to roll-out across the Central Methodology organization
• Own and execute on tactical PM activities such as customer issue tracking and follow-up to ensure the methodology team meets and exceeds commitments and key performance metrics
• Must be detailed oriented
• Drive team compliance to PMO processes, standards, and metrics
• Project planning, requirements definition, managing deliverables, tracking and reporting for key Verification Methodology initiatives
• Initiates enhancements to existing processes and methods to improve operational efficiencies while achieving alignment from key stakeholders
• Must be able to use spreadsheets to develop cost models and analyze different financial scenarios
• Working effectively with stakeholders outside of the CMT organization as well as external vendors to ensure deliverables are provided that meet or exceed CMT requirements
• Scoping new projects and developing budgets
• Being comfortable working with senior executives is a hard requirement; you must address the needs and requirements called upon from AMD's Executive Management
• Analyze and track detailed project tasks and performance against the plan of record to identify any issues early that are impacting the project plan and identify options for recovering delays to maintain schedule

Preferred Experience

• Proven Program Management experience in a dynamic and competitive industry, particularly within Software Development or Engineering based organizations.
• Ability to align and build consensus among stakeholders working towards a final goal
• Familiarity with front end development and verification flows a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Deploying front end development methodologies to a wide customer base with diverse requirements and needs.
• Experience with different project management tools such as Microsoft Project is beneficial
• Opportunities to work a percentage of your time from home are available and may/will be required.
• Managing projects where the end solution is an integration of multiple different tools and flows which are either internally developed or coming from a 3rd party.
• Microsoft Excel proficiency
• Managing strategic initiatives that might extend out over multiple years but have distinct phases with discrete deliverables over that time.
• Keen sense of urgency and drive for results.

Academic Credentials

• BS, MS degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering, is preferred.
• PMP Certification is a plus, but not required

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
