Job Description

Teamwork makes the stream work.

Roku is changing how the world watches TV

Roku is the #1 TV streaming platform in the US, and we've set our sights on powering every television in the world. Roku pioneered streaming to the TV. Our mission is to be the TV streaming platform that connects the entire TV ecosystem. We connect consumers to the content they love, enable content publishers to build and monetize large audiences, and provide advertisers unique capabilities to engage consumers.

From your first day at Roku, you'll make a valuable - and valued - contribution. We're a fast-growing public company where no one is a bystander. We offer you the opportunity to delight millions of TV streamers around the world while gaining meaningful experience across a variety of disciplines.

About the team

The Visual Quality & Design team is a centralized design group responsible for delivering premium quality creative for all applications, experiences and meta-data released and updated throughout the life of our products to create user delight beyond core OS features. This includes on-device advertising assets, unique on-device experiences, wallpapers, screensavers and more. If you are a results-oriented individual with a passion for creative projects and a drive for delivering exceptional work, we would love to hear from you. Join our team and be part of a dynamic environment where your creativity and program management skills will make a significant impact.

About the role

Do you want to lead programs for Roku City or similar experiences enjoyed by over 70M Roku users? As Senior Program Manager, you will report to the Director of Program and Production Management and play a crucial role in managing and overseeing projects from conception to completion. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across multiple cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, QA, analytics, and operations, to ensure the successful execution of creative initiatives. This role requires a strong blend of project management skills, creative thinking, and excellent communication abilities.
This is a hybrid role, based in our Austin, TX office.

What you’ll be doing

  • Foster a collaborative and positive team environment, promoting effective communication and knowledge sharing
  • Act as the main point of contact for internal teams, external vendors, and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle, fostering strong working relationships
  • Act as the bridge between conceptual design work and the production of design assets, to develop appropriate project scopes, budgets, and resource requirements, ensuring alignment with project objectives
  • Monitor and evaluate project performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures as needed
  • Conduct regular project status meetings, providing updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or risks that may impact project delivery
  • Promote an environment of design-led thinking; working with Designers to explore new and unique ways of solving challenges and be an advocate for the importance and value of effective visual design
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define project objectives, deliverables, and milestones
  • Lead and manage the end-to-end execution of projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards

We’re excited if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as design, engineering, communications, or marketing
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire creative teams
  • Proficient in project management tools and software to streamline workflows and track project progress
  • Strong understanding of the product development process and the creative process, including graphic design, illustration, copywriting etc
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Proven experience as a Program Manager or in a similar project management role within a creative agency, product, or design department
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines

The Roku Culture

Roku is a great place for people who want to work in a fast-paced environment where everyone is focused on the company's success rather than their own. We try to surround ourselves with people who are great at their jobs, who are easy to work with, and who keep their egos in check. We appreciate a sense of humor. We believe a fewer number of very talented folks can do more for less cost than a larger number of less talented teams. We’re independent thinkers with big ideas who act boldly, move fast and accomplish extraordinary things through collaboration and trust. In short, at Roku you'll be part of a company that's changing how the world watches TV.

We have a unique culture that we are proud of. We think of ourselves primarily as problem-solvers, which itself is a two-part idea. We come up with the solution, but the solution isn't real until it is built and delivered to the customer. That penchant for action gives us a pragmatic approach to innovation, one that has served us well since 2002.
