Job Description
Serves as a Sr. Assistant Director of Career Education and Development who, with direction from the Associate Director of Career Education and Development, assists in coordinating staff members whose duties (counseling, workshops, events, information dissemination) directly affect the quality and quantity of personalized service for all UCLA students and eligible alumni.
Responsible for administration of a sub-area of Career Education and program services, and most importantly, supports the overall mission of the Career Center. The primary core of these duties is the development and direct delivery of career counseling, consulting, and programming initiatives for all UCLA undergraduate students and eligible UC alumni
Specifically provide leadership for and develop programs and resources to enhance other counseling staff members' knowledge and expertise about employer needs and expectations. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Industry Relations and Experiential Learning to develop, implement, and evaluate employer services, internships, and programs as well as to monitor, track, and coordinate counselors' involvement with recruiting organizations.

Required/Preferred
A Master's degree in counseling, education or similar field, or equivalent experience/training. Minimum five years work experience within an education, business, industry, or social service work environment involving career and employment issues.
Required
Excellent interpersonal and group presentation skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Required
Evidence of skill in instruction, mentoring, and advancing in the professional development of career counselors, interns, staff members, and student volunteers. Knowledge of ethics and professional conduct of career professionals.
Required
Working knowledge of occupational/career/employment information, and professional/graduate school admission resources, technology, and materials.
Required
Demonstrated expertise in labor market and employment recruitment trends and techniques as well as in professional/graduate school admission requirements, policies, and corresponding application protocols.
Required
Superior career counseling and facilitation skills that apply to all levels of students, across all disciplines.
Required
Ability to conceptualize, design, and implement innovative career development programs appropriate for all levels of students seeking careers in all sectors of employment (academia, business /industry, government, not for profit, etc.) and in key areas of professional/graduate study.
Required
Demonstrated working knowledge of career assessment instruments such as MBTI, the Strong, and others.
Required
Demonstrated ability to effectively counsel graduate level students as well as eligible alumni with more advanced career development issues.
Required
Ability to identify needs of unique students with diverse backgrounds and experiences; ability to develop specialized strategies and deliver appropriate services to meet their career challenges and needs.

Evidence of superior platform skills in delivering presentations to small and large groups.
Required
Ability to represent and promote the services and programs of the career center to potential students, current students, employers, faculty, and administrators.

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement projects with complex logistics involving multiple tasks and priorities.

Evidence of project management experience including implementation and oversight of programs tailored to specific targeted groups.

Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels, employers, faculty, students and alumni.
