Job Description
THE POSITION

The Department of Human Services, Torrance Sate Hospital, is looking to add to their team. Are you committed to making a difference in the lives of others? We are looking for a master’s level professional with strong organization and leadership skills to oversee the Social Work Department to ensure provision of quality services.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Social Worker Manager, a key administrative position, you will be responsible for the overall planning, direction, management, and evaluation of the operation of a professional psychiatric Social Work Services program. As such, you will be responsible for the direction of the following: coordination of admissions and mental health commitment processes; effective liaison with all of the hospital stakeholders including patients, families, staff, and community agencies such as county Mental Health Administrators’ Offices, Base Service units, and other mental health provider agencies; coordination of the provision of Social Work Services including Social Work assessment, treatment provision and discharge planning; integration of Social Work services with other disciplines in a multidisciplinary Treatment Team approach; development of performance standards, policies, and procedures; and implementation of a performance improvement program with participation in hospital wide performance improvement activities. This position also serves and participates on hospital and community committees as determined necessary to accomplish the mission of the hospital.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

In compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, if you are selected for this position, you must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination, unless you are exempt from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination due to an ADA or religious accommodation. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of professional social work experience, including one year in a supervisory capacity; and a master’s degree in social work or social welfare.
  • One year of experience as a Social Worker Supervisor and a master’s degree in social work or social welfare; or
  • One year of experience as a Social Worker Supervisor (Must have been employed in a Commonwealth Social Worker job title on September 8, 2008 with continuous Commonwealth employment); or
Other Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
