Job Description
THE POSITION

Looking for an exciting challenge in an ever changing and fast paced work environment? The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services is actively seeking a Security Officer 1 to be a part of our Safety and Security Team at Torrance State Hospital. The Security Officer 1 should be willing to perform a wide variety of safety and security related tasks in a healthcare campus. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Security Officer 1 works along with a team consisting of other Security Officers and communicates with the Fire and Safety Marshal and Safety Manager to provide a safe and secure treatment environment for the care of individuals with mental illness. You will be responsible to ensure a safe environment in multiple buildings is maintained and will respond to emergency situations that may arise. You will be required to staff a control room desk, provide information to and screen visitors, patrol the campus, assist patients and respond to unusual incidents. You will also complete detailed incident reports as needed and complete routine logs to record activities. Security Officers may also be assigned other duties as required.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Travel and Overtime as needed.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Work hours are 2:00pm to 10:00pm. Will be required to work any five (5) days within a consecutive seven (7) day calendar period with regularly scheduled days off to include every third (3) weekend. Work hours may change based on operational needs.
  • Full-time employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

In compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, if you are selected for this position, you must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination, unless you are exempt from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination due to an ADA or religious accommodation. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • No previous experience or training required.
Necessary Special Requirements:
  • Possession of a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle operator's license.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
