We are looking for someone with the skills to help us:
- Expand our reach through micro-influencers and aligned thought-leaders
- Grow our social media following and engagement
This role will be a remote, contract role with the potential to transition to full-time in the future. Candidates should be diligent remote workers able to commit up to 20 hours a week.
Primary Responsibilities

- Strategically spend a small budget for boosting posts for maximum reach and, based on experience, assist with paid social media campaigns
- Network and cross-promote with partners and followers on all social platforms to increase engagement
- Create and schedule engaging monthly social calendar (posts, stories, reels) and share client stories, humane education concepts, program updates, team speaking events, partner cross-promotion, etc. on Twitter, LinkedIn, FB, and Instagram
- Identify opportunities to respond to relevant current events/trends as a thought leader when appropriate
- Guide the team and staff in opportunities to amplify IHE’s voice across social media
- Help set processes and best practices for collecting new impact stories and visual content from our clients, students, and partners for the most engaging content
Qualifications & Requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in the area of proofreading
- A minimum of 2 years experience as a social media professional.
- Hands-on experience with creative design tools, such as Canva
- Bachelor's degree, ideally in communications, digital/graphic design, or a related field
- Proven experience growing social following and engagement with knowledge of best practices and a commitment to building a professional and positive media presence
- An interest in and commitment to social justice, environmental sustainability, animal protection, and humane education
- A portfolio of work available for review
- Strategic and creative mindset
- Experience working with social media influencers or as a social media influencer.
- A deep and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- A positive, non-snarky approach to social media engagement. Humor that is kind and positive is a plus!
- Experience writing concise, benefits-focused copy
The Social Media & Engagement specialist will be paid an hourly rate of $25. Please include your resume and cover letter in your application.
