Job Summary

Analyzes business requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Designs software systems.

Responsibilities

• Help in the evaluation and recommendation of appropriate technologies for product features and platform
• Develop custom CLI commands, Terraform Plans, Ansible scripts to provision the infrastructure on Azure, AWS, GCP, etc. and make it open source to help community
• Cultivate Equinix’s open-source presence and reputation in open-source organizations, standards bodies and more like Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), Linux Foundation, etc. Interact with stakeholder(s) to understand and document the product feature(s)
• Assist in the analysis & evaluation of new technologies to meet the demand for product roadmap and technology platform goals
• Advocate and follow best design and development practices adhering to Engineering standards
• Prioritizing and parallelizing the tasks in hand and dealing with ad-hoc requests
• Provides a level of effort (LOE) for the product backlog. Work with technical project managers and product management teams to define a schedule
• Work in a globally distributed development team on Hybrid Multi-cloud Networking open-source software

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with continuous integration and delivery using a public cloud such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and container technologies such as Docker, Rancher, etc
• Minimum of 6+ years of expertise in Go, Terraform Providers, CLI, Ansible, Python
• Professional Experience architecting, building, deploying, and maintaining customer-facing & cloud-native applications at scale in an innovative engineering environment
• Strong programming foundation with knowledge of Data Structures, Algorithms, and Design Patterns
• DevOps mindset to improve CICD using GitHub Actions and review DORA metrics to improve processes
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Hands-on 3+ years of experience with setting up Kubernetes (Container Orchestration), Istio (service-mesh), Nginx on Bare-Metal servers using Python, Ansible, CLI, Terraform interfaces
• Minimum 3+ years of Full-stack expertise in application design & development with Java technologies with knowledge of Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Message Queues & Workflow Engines with microservices architecture

The targeted pay range for this position in the following location is:

• San Francisco, CA / Bay Area: $143,000 to $235,000

Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.

This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
