The Senior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for driving supply chain cost effectiveness and performance improvement with our suppliers, while minimizing supplier risk across all STERIS for assigned spend categories. Your core focus will be on proactively identifying leverage opportunities, drive supplier actions that deliver enhanced value to diverse stakeholders across STERIS. The successful candidate will develop key strategic relationships with suppliers to support global sourcing, manufacturing, and new product development strategies. The successful candidate will have a close working relationship and collaboration with the global strategic sourcing, manufacturing, quality, operational procurement and business unit operation leaders in strategy formulation, supplier selection, and supplier management. The successful candidate will also utilize tools and processes to gather cross functional alignment from key stakeholders and lead continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities will include monitoring key market movements, identifying potential challenges or risks, and resolving issues with suppliers for multiple sites across STERIS.
Duties:
- Work cross functionally with Quality and Purchasing partners to improve Quality, Delivery and cost performance for assigned categories.
- Support the necessary supplier audits including commercial, financial, and technical to ensure that STERIS maintains and continues to develop a robust and capable supply base.
- Create and deploy sourcing strategies and communicate them effectively across the plants establishing cross functional alignment.
- Increase knowledge in lean manufacturing concepts and apply lean replenishment techniques as well as general continuous improvement opportunities to improve supplier performance in targeted areas.
- Lead / Champion cross-STERIS sourcing effectiveness to achieve year-over-year improvement in total quality, surety of supply, cost of ownership, and service. Perform cost analysis and utilize financial acumen to identify opportunities to leverage scale or other opportunities to drive cost savings.
- Participate in New Product Development projects as a Core Team member, representing Global Operations (Manufacturing and Sourcing) and be responsible for the integration of new designs and technologies with our manufacturing processes, as well as identifying sources for components (manufactured and purchased).
- Develop dual / multiple sourcing for assigned category based items at the lowest total acquisition cost and lead cross-functional teams to achieve identified dual sourcing targets.
- Develop effective short and long term category strategies to include supply chain continuity, risk management, optimizing supplier network and attaining best cost. Lead the identification of key supplier/ partners to strategically source. Work with cross-functional team to align key strategic suppliers and capabilities with new product development needs.
- Lead and manage supplier relationships through development and tracking of Key Metrics and establish collaborative environment to optimize supplier performance and innovation.
- Develop and maintain expertise in the supply base’s contemporary technology that can be utilized to upgrade existing products and be designed into new products.
- Coordinate the development of purchase, quality inspection, part qualification and delivery processes for commodities within the New Product Development process.
- Provide proactive leadership and management with cross-functional partners to effectively select suppliers, negotiate favorable contract and payment terms, and manage supplier performance and relationships.
- Provide direction and vision for sourcing initiatives, and apply Lean Product Development principles and manufacturing experience to achieve New Product Development goals.
- Carry out duties in an ethical, legal and professional manner that contributes to both our internal and external Customers’ satisfaction.
- Support the strategic initiatives through the entire life cycle of the projects from spend analysis, implementation up to new supplier onboarding.
- Conduct negotiations and issue contracts/agreements in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations within the appropriate guidelines. Negotiate, structure, and secure agreements with selected suppliers.
Required Experience:
- Experience in all aspects of end-to-end Supply Chain including contract negotiations, commodity based materials management, project management and commercial analytics, strong negotiation skills.
- Excellent knowledge office applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management tools.
- Six (6) to eight (8) years of experience working in strategic sourcing, manufacturing and / or industrial environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related technical field .
Preferred Experience:
- Experience sourcing chemicals.
- ISM or ASCM certification.
- Master’s degree in technical field or MBA.
- Regulated business environment experience.
- A broad knowledge of multiple direct material commodities.
- First-line supervisory experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
Work Schedule:
- It can be remote, for the right candidate.
- The schedule is 3 days/week onsite, 2 days/week remote.
- This is a hybrid position based in Mentor, OH.
