Job Description

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior Nonprofit HR Specialist for our client, a wonderful Nonprofit organization focused on creating avenues of opportunities for the residents of New York City through a range of programs encompassing social services, arts, and healthcare! This is a full-time, on-site in New York City, contract-to-hire opportunity.



What You Will Be Doing

  • Uphold organizational values while establishing and upholding procedures and company policies that adhere to human resources principles
  • Assist with recruiting efforts by collaborating with hiring managers in the interview process and aiding in candidate selection.
  • Provide strategic guidance and coaching to managers on program design, employee relation practices, policies, performance management, employment laws, and promoting DEI.
  • Take charge of documenting and investing in employee relation incidents, offering support to employees and managers in navigating interpersonal and job-related challenges.
  • Act as the primary contact within the People Team overseeing people-related operations including tasks such as handling new hire/termination documentation, conducting background checks and exit interviews, managing unemployment claims, and leave of absence.


What You Have To Offer

  • SHRM Certification and/or an advanced degree is a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of New York City, New York State, and federal employment laws/
  • Nonprofit experience and community-based organization experience
  • Familiarity with New York City DHS, transitional and supportive housing, or other residential programming.
  • Ability to think ahead, take initiative, and work independently.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication with a high degree of integrity, accountability, and EQ.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in talent management and administration functions.
  • Excellent problem solver with thoughtful, data-driven approaches to challenges


Compensation And Benefits

This exciting career opportunity allows you to work with a thriving team! The pay range for this role is $35+ hourly DOE. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision through Scion Staffing after one month of employment! Additional benefits are offered upon conversion to permanent hire.
